I have a eight bulb TEK 48" with Advance Centium ballast.
Yesterday, during normal light cycle, I noticed the four outside lights all went out. I suspected the ballast since all four went out at the same time.
I pulled the bulbs and tried the 4 center bulbs which were still working. These bulbs would not work in the outside 4 end caps.
The two power switches both still light up when the switches are turned on, but I suspect that is due to the fact they are in between the power source and the ballast. Just to rule out a bad switch, I swapped the two switch positions and the same four lights burned.
I have not found any method to test a high voltage ballast with a multiple tester, but would welcome any ideas.
I cleaned all the end caps with alcohol on a swab, so I don't believe it's end cap corrosion, plus all four went out simultaneous.
Looks like a major ordeal to swap out the ballast, but I did find an exact replacement on Amazon for a good price.
Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
