Tek T5?

I'll soon be ordering 36" Tek Light: 4-39W T5 HO Fluorescents (Black). I'll be ordering the mounting brackets as I don't have a canopy at this time so what are your opinions on this and what is my suggested bulb setup?

I'd do 2XBluePlus (appears very white) and 2XActinic, but I like a bluer tank. In my 8 bulb Tek I have 2XBluePlus, 2XDaylight, and 2XActinic -- and it has a nice blue tinge.

Mine sits on a stand made of 2X4s and a sheet of 3/8" plywood. Not real purdy, but real sturdy.

I cut and painted some 2X4's for my mounting brackets. Dirt cheap, sturdy, and easy to do. Matches the tank and light fixtures nicely as well.

Great choice on the Tek T5! On a 4 bulb setup, the lighting threads recommend:

back
- Blue+
- GE Daylight
- AquaBlue+
- Blue+
front

The 2 Blue+ will be on a separate power cord, so you can have them come on first and go off last for the sunrise & sunset effect.

As for the mounting brackets, I have them and love the way they look. Also, it's nice to have them set at the highest level and slowly lower them an inch every week to acclimate your tank inhabitants to the new lighting until your Tek light is 3"-4" above the top of your tank, which is the final resting place.
