Tell me about Maxi Minis

I am not a boy!
Hey RC,

Never had an anemone besides a BTA. I'm anxiously waiting for my fedex guy to bring me my new 6.2 gallon AIO nano from Micro-reefs (about halfway down the page). I've heard about them but have never really been interested until now. There will be mainly zoas and softies in this tank, but lots of inverts. Probably no fish, but are sexi shrimp, pom pom crabs, porcelian crabs, and other little fellows compatible?

Any other information on them would be wonderful!

well what i know is if you have a big tank they start to spread like crazt and their supper hard to get off the glass. but for a 6g i think it wod be cool

I have a bunch of them and I love them. They are beautiful, seemingly well behaved, and haven't moved around at all (except one).

spread? only way I know o them spreading is from physically cutting them in half. I have 5 in my 90 for over a year now and thy have not moved an inch. Now in my frag tank I have about 15 of them that started out as 5 but I keep cutting them to share with friends.

you can cut them? I knew you could with the bubble anemones but didn't know you could cut the maxi minis I have about 15 or so that are beautiful and would love to have more : ) how fast do they heal?

They are pretty much compatible with anything else in the tank except for weak or sick fish, the ones I have in my big tank have never moved from the spots I placed them in 5 months ago.

Wonderful news! It'll be the last thing I add probably because they come in such a variety of colors so I can pick what I want haha. How much do they normally go for? o.O

I have cut mine a few times. They will eat fish when they get large unless you keep cutting them. Never let them get near a piece of rock. They are impossible to remove without breaking the rock

they range in price depending on color I think they start around 40 or so, you can find some awesome ones, I have quite a few really colorful ones.

Do you guys find feeding them necessary? I've had a bunch fo a while and they seem happy without feedings. I've tried squirting mysis in them but they don't hold on to it

I have a red and green mini carpet it is attached to a rock but im ok with that. I feed it fresh raw shrimp cut into small pieces. Its about 3-4 inches around and its on a rock that weighs about 8lbs got the whole thing for 30 bucks but it was a close friend who I bought it from. I have seen straight colored ones go for over 100 and as low as 45ish just depends on who youre buying from.

the best price for these is at petco of all places. they have a ton of different color types and they are normally 30 but sometimes they will have them on sale for 20. i have had really good luck with these, but a guy that works at the saltwater store i go to, had his large one about 5 inches eat his blonde naso tang. ya never know.

I just picked up my first one today.
