Run a skimmer? And my fave some type of phos reactor. I was sound the sock method. But a reactor made the diff night and day.

Yeah I made it go off for 4 hours at night and lowered the intensity. What could have caused this and how can it negatively affect my livestock and corals I've never had it this bad ever

Mine had bubbles and it was deff cyano...in the sand. The rocks..

Hows your rodi? Mine was an emergency tap water. And one time placed a hose to a submerged pump that i had used with tap water also...silicates from tap.

Ah...No, that's definitely dino's. Looks very similar to my outbreak a few years ago. Brown snot like mud on the sand and rocks. Will grow up the side of the glass too.
You can blast it off with a baster or pump and it grows back in a few hours right?
What mine looked like...

I vote cyano. Dino strings float upward, with bubbles at the top. Cyano is flat, like someone dropped a wedding veil over your sand, with bubbles trapped under the mat. Cyano comes off in sheets if you trail a fork through it.

Some species of cyanobacteria are toxic but it's much, much less likely than with dinos. It can fix nitrogen and photosynthesize so the only really good attack methods are: turning lights off for short periods, dropping phosphate levels and increasing flow. It's diatoms that use silica, btw., it doesn't affect dinos or cyano.

Just to be pedantic, neither cyano nor dinos make NO2 bubbles. Both are photosynthetic, which process produces oxygen bubbles.

It's cyano, and yes, it's harmful to coral if it gets to them...

I changed my lighting schedule a little bit it's 10 hours off and then sunrises at 10 and has light all the way until 12

3 days lights out will clear it up. Will come back if you have excess nutrient inputs.
