thanks and have you ever seen what looks like peanut butter spread on live rock it seems to be some type of sponge or algae but its real light tan looks like skin or light peanut butter????
 
this stuff doesnt worry me yet but i dont know what it is???:reading:

what are you folks talking about? those are clearly aiptasia palys. Those are super rare and very sought after. haha jk. get some berghias to take care of that :)
 
I believe they are majano, not aptasia. Aps have longer thinner tentacles. MJ's are stockier, thicker and have shorter tents. I am also looking for something to kill mj's. Boiling water with either ph or kh solution mixed strong does work to some extent. However you do need to pull the injected ones off with some sort of fine tweezer after they shrink up.

anyone used these guys? after some research i found them little pricy but do they work and what if we have miss identified the anems

Actually, aiptasia have pointier tentacles, regardless of whether they look fat or not (they can contort into various positions, looking different at times). Majanos have more rounded tips on the tentacles.

If you pull either of them off the rock, they leave tissue behind and just regenerate.
 
i just tried this aiptasia-x it sure is cool watching them shrivel away and got three pepermint shrimp to hunt down the baby ones probably get a couple more pepermints next week i will let you know how this works out
