temp probe on apex

What would cause my temperature to fluctuate as much as one degree in a matter of a minute? For the last couple of weeks it has been doing this and i can't find the problem. I've taken the heater out and it still fluctuates.

Do temp probes go bad? It's about a year old. Does it need to be recalibrated?

Thanks

Temp probes can fail, when they do though they usually indicate a very low temp around 20F. Your issue sounds more like interference. Is the probe wire routed near any high powered devices such as a ballast? Have you been able to corrolate the fluctuations to any other changes/activities? Does it occur randomly, or at certain times of the day?

No new high current devices. There is a skimmer pump near the probe but that is nothing new. Worked fine up until now. It fluctuates all day. I'm afraid it may read to low and cause my heater to turn on.

I guess i'll just have to place an order for a new one. Probably a good idea to replace the ph probe and orp probe as well.

My Apex lite is not even online yet. I am trying to calibrate the cond probe(salinity) and to temp correct the temp probe has to be connected to PM2 along w the cond probe. The temp probe reads 20F. Can't calibrate it or anything. Does PM 2 have to be configured online first? Shouldn't it read temp no matter which module I plug it in?
