Temp Question

Lately, my tank temp seems to be rising up to 80.5. It seems to vary between 78.7 - 80.5. Although, the climb in temp, and the drop in temp seem to take several days to occur, so obviously it's the room temp that's affecting it.

My question is, will the rise in temp to 80.5 be a problem? If not, at what temp should I start being concerned?

All my stocking and tank info is all listed below.

Thanks in advance!

If it is staying in the range you say, and is going up and down gradually, then no sweat.
If it starts swinging rapidly or over a wider range then it could become a concern.

80.5 isn't that bad. However, if it is going up over say a week or so and then dropping then I wouldn't worry about it. If on the otherhand it is going through that range within a day or two then I would suggest either getting a controller to control a chiller and heater to make sure the variance isn't but 1 degree.

Now that being said, those can get expensive real quick.

I have a heater that is active all day. During this past cold spell I noticed my tank going 2 or 3 degree's difference. So I put on an extra heater that is only on when my lights are off. Now I only vary about .3 degree's

Thanks guys. The variance in temp seems to happen over the course of a week to week and a half, so it's definitely not a big swing all at once.

My concern is if it continues to climb, how high is too high?

Above 86 start to worry. Above 88 you're in the danger zone. Unless it's swinging 10 degrees a day, don't worry about it. Your temps are still lower and much more stable than an "average" reef.
