temperature controller

How's your unit? Is it readily available? What parts exactly do I need? I'm assuming I need the 7028/2 and that'll allow me to plug my heater into the contoller. How does this stack up vs say a ranco or medusa or aqualogic?????TIA chuck

I just got the new model in yesterday, it looks really nice but I have no practical experience. All I can say is it looks sharp and it can switch 900W. It is single stage heat or chill with a range between 0 -159 F.

So all I would need is the 7028/2? If so, who's got one? or rather is there one available for dropship?

I have one left in stock. Get it ordered because my last shipments will go out Friday and then we are closed for 10 days.

Hi,
I have just set up the Tunze 7028/3. I set it on the cooling position at 27.5 oC . I then connected it to a fan. My tank temperature was 27.4 oC and the fan turned on??? The fan kept going till it hit 26.8 oC . I thought it was going to be accurate to control the temperature. Is this a faulty unit or is it set to do this?
Thanks John..

I do not know, I just recieved 4 units last week so I have no practical experience. I would verify the connections are correct and that you do not have both the battery and switched socket installed. If anything I would expect a relay that sticks a bit and perhaps this will wear in, one of the changes is a much higher powered relay and these generally take more power to switch. My older Tunze monitors are the most precise controllers I have ever used. You might need to contact Tunze direct on this one as I do not know for sure. I do know that on my CO2 controller set when I first connect power the solenoid opens for a few seconds but then it gets an accurate reading and settles in and doses at the exact pH I have set and turns off immediately after reaching that pH. I know that the new Temperature controller was a complete redesign and is analog technology as this was the only way to avoid any risk of resetting the temperature by power surges, something that most digital units are vulnerable too, perhaps this resulted in a very slight compromise of accuracy.

My advice- give it some time, make sure you are only using one power supply. make sure the jumper has a firm connection, ask someone at the factory- or I can ask for you.

Thanks,
I have not got the battery in it, and i have all the connections fitted right. So at the moment i have the temp set at 28.2 so it will cut off at 27.5. The unit seems to work, but not at the temp you set it at.
If you could please ask at the factory for me it would be very helpfull
Cheers John.

Will do, I will be their Tuesday at noon and I will have Axel review this message. Your model is a bit different from ours as the relay is different and the F scale is such that a .7 degree change is smaller than in than in the C scale. Your unit switches 1800W and ours is only 900w. I might also contact Paraquatics as in UK I think Gary is the leading Tunze expert.

Axel told me the unit is supposed to allow a variance of .2 degrees + or - of the set point. He asks that you send your unit to the factory and it will be repaired. Unfortunately it is a few weeks until more will be available so this is the fastest remedy.

Hi Roger,
Thank you for your help. I will try to get the unit swapped at the shop i bought it fom.
Cheers John.
