Temperature Probe Question

I have the Profilux Plus II controller and have finally gotten around to setting it up. Is there anything I need to do to calibrate the standard temperature probe that I got with the controller?

I have my heater set at 78* farenheit, but the controller constantly reads higher than that (right now it is reading 27.6*celsius (or about 82*f). I plopped one of those coralife thermometers in there, and it is reading 25.5*c (or about 78*f). I would assume/hope the profilux thermometer is higher quality than the coralife, but since the coralife is reading almost exactly what the thermometer on the heater is set at, I'm wondering if the profilux temp probe is off and needs to be calibrated somehow.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Update - . The first post was about an hour and a half into my light schedule. Now at the end, the temperature per the controller is 29.2*C (85*F), while the coralife says 27.5*C (82*F). So, the swing is either 78-82*F if the Coralife is correct, or 82-85*F if the Profilux is correct.

Please let me know if you had to calibrate your temp probes, or if I should adjust the heater accordingly.

Thanks!

Nothing to adjust the GHL temp probes are probably the most accurate probe you will ever find.

The GHL is correct 100%

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't supposed to calibrate the probe somehow before putting it in my sump.

Thanks again.

Hiya

No problem, glad I could reasure ;)

We do get asked often especially when someone has a new controller and are used to a reading from an existing device if the new reading is the accurate one, and i fully understand where they are coming from.

What is important to remember when you spend such an amount on probably the most sort after controller is that the components used in GHL, seriously no short cuts are taken, it is high end all the way, this is why you see little in the way of failures. So I always say try and be assured in the level of quality you have bought into. I know sometimes not easy when you see two different readings ;)

If you need further support please go to www.aquariumcomputer.com/forum where GHL directly support their global client base.

We are here to help :)
