What do you guys think it would be the best temperature i should keep a reef tank?

Mine hovers at 77, never less than 76 and never more than 79. It truly comes down to the fluctuations. you dont want too much of a swing. My swing is around 1 to 2 degrees, but than again i use t5's with 2 4.75" fans blowing across them, only coming on when the main bulbs turn on.

My past tank I kept at 78 give or take .5 but my new solana seems to run hot so I am keeping it between 80-81. I also here sps grow faster in higher temps.

i stay between 78.5 and 80 in my 90, my pico is a different story it goes from 74-80 depending on the house temp. i know thats a big swing but i haven't had time to get on of those little credit card looking heaters for it yet and thats about all that will fit.
on a side note i know people who's tanks stay at 84-85 and look great.

something interesting i just learned, its better to slowly give your tank a swing in temp till it gets used to it, and always have a swing, of 2-3 degrees. your corals become much more tolerent in the event of something going wrong.
when your corals are completely used to a temp and never fluctuates, any little spike causes them to go downhill because they havent built up a tolerence to this. corals in the wild see huge ranges in temp throughout the day.

Just about any temp is fine as long as it's stable. I run my nano a little hot since I have no chiller at 81.5 -82 degrees. My swing is about .5 to .7 degrees. I basically found the highest temp during the day with the lights on and the a/c up and set my heater to keep it close to that.
