Tempered glass

Hey I have a quick question about tempered glass. Thetank I'm looking at is predrilled then tempered. Has anyone every has a tempered glass bottom break or anything like that thanks.

It is rare but it can happen. Many people put eggcrate down to help prevent pressure points from the LR.

I laid a sheet of plex-glass down in my first tank. After watching the hits the front glass has taken with little more than a scratch, I doubt its neccessary.

The problem is while tempered is stronger, when it fails it's catastrophic. With non tempered plate glass you might get some time to do "something" becuase you might have only a crack. If tempered fails, it's thousands of tiny pieces. All the water will drain very fast.

Shower doors and car door windows are tempered. Ever seen a broken one? Then you know what I mean.

Putting some egg grate or a sheet of acrylic down is very prudent.
