what are the chances that my 125g is tempered all the way around??? when i emptied my 55g there was a sticker that says "all panels tempered do not drill" wich is fine since i didnt plan on drilling the sump anyways however when i just emptied the 125g ther was a similar sticker on the bottom that says "tempered do not drill" my question is the whole thing tempered or just the bottom???

im not sure on the manufactor but theres a sticker on the back that says built buy C.L. april 2004 if that helps

i would imagine that its just tempered on the bottom. I havent ran into too many tanks that are tempered all around

hmm well i was thinking about bringing it to davie glass this week do u think that theyll be able to tell before they start drilling???

I'm sorry to say i had Davie glass do some glass work for my tank last week and i am extremely disappionted in the quality of workmanship, enough to say i am glad i did not take them my tank to be drilled, i am not saying they wont do a great job for you i just would not have them do any glass work for me EVER AGAIN. i am sure many others have had great experience with them. this is only based on my exp. but i would not feel right not saying anything about since you mentioned them doing work for you. if i needed an 1/8" thick glass cut 12x12 i would rather take my chances cutting it myself and paying double rather then have them do it. IMHO again this is only based on my recent past experience. only trying to help

do you know of another place broward??? this seems to be the only option i have other than going to dade and since i have to rely on someone to gimme a ride since a 72" tank wont fit in my car i was trying to make it as short of a ride as possible

yeah my friend has a truck but already doesnt wanna drive to davie so miami is kinda outta the question

who were you thinking of drilling your tank in Miami? i would be willing to take your tank, i have a full size truck, only stipulation is that i cannot lift heavy things so you would need someone else to help load and unload it and you buy beer and wings at hooters the only other problem would be is the schedule

well im moving on friday so i wanted to do it sometime before than and i work everyday till 5 (i was guna try to get off early one day)
who were you thinking of drilling your tank in Miami?
exotic aquriums was the only other place recommended to me in miami
i cannot lift heavy things so you would need someone else to help load and unload it
haha i just pulled out my back this weekend:rollface:
btw did you have that bad of an experiance with davie glass?? what happend?

they made an internal overflow for me, the finish is horrible (very rough NOT polished and done by hand) the galss is not even and they did not use aquarium silicone. the best way i can describe it is if i made it in 6th grade shop class and got a C-

i am very detailed and a company that is dedicated to working on glass IMO should NOT produce something of that quality

this is only based on my experience, plus it was over priced but i found out after i paid for it, however i know they charge $10.00 per hole and that is a good price

LET ME KNOW IF I CAN HELP IN ANY WAY

Emilio

i would agree with Manny but my preference for not having anything in the tank other than the ABSOLUTE min overrides the risk of something going wrong, when my tank was being drilled i felt like i was waiting for a baby to be born I WAS SO NERVOUS but fortunately it turned out ok, BUT THERE ARE STILL RISKS OF THE BOTTOM RETURN BULKHEAD FOR THE CLOSE LOOP ON MY TANK FAILING AND 110 GALLONS OF SALTWATER SPILLING INTO MY HOUSE. everybody does what they feel is best for them but you should always listen to others and their opinions because everyone knows something about something.

HOWEVER the end result is always your decision and your decision only

GOOD LUCK

illal i can drill it for you if you like but i am not responsible if go wrong anything can happen even to the experts

btw

most tank over 100g are temper in the bottom not in the sides but just look around on the manufactor page and see if is temper all around the manufactor will know how to tell

SUCCESS!! i got the tank drilled today :D wow was that nerve racking now i just gotta make my over flows and ill be set ... btw i ended up just going to davie glass

do you think 8" x 4" x 4" is too small for the overflows?? btw i got the holes drilled 3" over and 3" down on each end of the back side of the tank
