Temporary Tank?

Hey Everybody, I just found out my condo building will be tenting for termites and I need to remove the fish.
My plan was to move the tank as well but now I am considering trying to find a small temporary tank I can house the fish in for a week and then move back to my tank (that will be completely sealed during the tenting)

Does anybody have a tank they are willing to sell/rent to me for a week or so?

I have a buddy who said just to house the fish in a 55g Brute trash can with powerheads since it will only be about a week. Any thoughts to this?

Just looking to make sure I do this properly and as smooth as possible to limit my chances of any fish dying.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Kyle

Kyle, I have used heavy duty plastic bins on a couple of occasions for temporary storage, sometimes as long as a couple of months. If you can trasnfer the live rock to it, and hook up the skimmer, there is no reason that your livestock would have any problems.

You should do a search on here I remember that someone just covered the tank and sump with plastic and left the fish in the tank.

I have seen that but the company doing the tenting has a policy that they will not do it with fish left in tank, so leaving fish in the tank is not an option in my situation unfortunately :sad1:

You can also talk to Elite MarineLife in Pompano. I talked to him before and he said he did temp housing for fish.

I dont know if you have any friends that will take care of it for a couple days, but when times were rough for somebody I met in some forums, they needed their tank cared for a couple weeks.

If you need any assistance, I'll be more than glad to babysit your fish for the duration.

Going back to your question about the brutt that would work for fis. If it were a week corals should be ok

Agreed on the plastic container/brute.

No issues there as long as you do what was mentioned and transfer the live rock and use as much of the same water as you can.

I would also add some Fritz Zyme to help offset any potential cycle.

If you need temp housing for some of the livestock I have a 28g running tank with a clown and a small puffer.

I ran my tank full when my place was tented no loss! Just cover up the tank really well with towels and a tarp leave powerheads running

I wish I could leave it there and wrap it up, But the company doing the tenting has a policy that no fish can be left in tank. So I unfortunately have no choice but to remove them.

I just bought a 55g tank at a yard sale for 10 bucks so I'll save most of my water and throw some rock in and then transfer it all back to my tank when the tenting is finished.
