The best choice for a 10g is an N. Wennerae which poses no threat of breakng glass and will grow around 3" or so. They are easily attainable from Tampabaysaltwater and other florida live rock dealers.
Any "smaller" smasher mantis would be fine in a 10 gal. Just stay away from the "big guns" -- the spearers, G. chiragra, Odontodactylus species, and G. ternatensis.
Is shrimp growth effected by the size of tank? Lets say you have a baby Peacock Mantis in a 10G, will that effect the final size of the mantis like it does fish?
