Anyone know how this happens in the reef aquarium? Im interested in buying a terminal male and watching the transition over time but want to make sure that it actually happens. Do you need a female in the tank as well?
IME, you should probably have a female fairy wrasse in the tank...but don't be surprised if female also turns male and eventually 'eliminates' your super male
So you're saying having a terminal male with a female is the best possibility of getting a supermale? If thats the case do people seperate the two when fighting starts?
I got a male-female pair of Flame Wrasses....and sure enough, the female turned into a male. It's been 6-8 months and the sub dominant male leaves the super male alone.
