I have the typhoon and love it, but I have never owned the T2. I have observed one at an LFS and it pulls out some nasty skimmate and (from the owner) does not require any special maintenance. It is also built like a tank! It is basically a recirculating venturi skimmer (needs a feed pump) and it has collector unit like a tunze foam collector cup. I am sure it would work, but you might be better off with an octopus nw200 with meshmod, it would probably work better (not that different in price) or an aquaeuro classic 250 (reefnut.com, wait until the pump issue is fixed though).
