what are some good test kits that i can use?

Salifert, Salifert, and Salifert. Need I say more? No seriously, Salifert makes some of the most reliable accurate tests around. Well worth it.

API is the only one besides salifert that i'd trust at all. General rule...the cheaper they are, the crappier they are But the API's are decent IMO. Can be a bit difficult to read at times, but i've used both a lot and they usually turn out very close to each other.
