Test Kit Suggestions

I have been using the Seachem MultiTest Marine Basic and I would like to upgrade to a better testing regiment. My question is, what tests should I really be doing and what brand would our members recommend? And it would be helpful if you recommended a web site that has good prices for the same.
Thanks Greg

I'd say go with Salifort, I'v used them for years with no problem.

Also, I test for calcium, magnesium,kh on a monthly schedual then once in a while i'll test nitrate, strontium when I feel like it.

And don'tforget to test your salt at least once from each new bucket to ensure the perameters are good... if not make adjustments before waterchanges.

HTH's

I've used SeaChem for Alk, PH, Iodine, phosphate, silica and calcium.

I have used Salifert for calcium, magnesium, iodine, and nitrates. Although I haven't matched all the SeaChem's with Saliferts, I prefer the Salifert kits. I will be ordering Salifert alk soon.

For ph I hope to switch to a meter. Did I hear 'group buy'?????

ps: I am on probation from the ignore thread and this is my first community service post.:eek2:

Salifert or LaMotte (weekly) for calcium, magnesium, Kh/alkalinity, and ocasionally nitrates. Tunze for phosphate (monthly). I run a Ph meter and salinity monitor 24/7.

I have been using Salifert for Calcium, Nitrates, Iodine.. They are a little more money but are supposed to be more accurate..
What I have been doing is checking my paramaters with cheaper test kits once sometimes twice weekly just to make sure nothing is going totally out of whack and then using the more expensive Salifert kit on a bi-monthly regimine and recording those results in my log book..
