Can anyone tell me how many copper pennies to put into my reef tank? I think I have ick. Would 75 pennies be enough for a 150g? I can't remember if it's 1 penny per gallon or 1 penny per 2 gallons.
Thanks

You know what... I think we need to get this guy off thread. He' giving such bad advice. Like he said in his own post don't do it. Because if you put 600 pennies in your tank nothing is going to happen. Pennies aren't actual copper. (that might have been the rule back in the 50's, when pennies were actually made of copper)Originally posted by chort55
600, it is 4 copper pennies per gallon as the copper from the pennies is lower quality then typical copper used in other meds, and there only copper coated.
The 4 per gallon rule is also only if it is a fresh outbreak, double it for each day that the outbreak has been noticed and left untreatedGoodluck I hope your little swimmers make it
Of course I take no responsibility for your ignorance if anyone is actually dumb enough to do this, or anything else mentioned up to and beyond this comment ^ LOL

But these days you have to use copper plumbing. And it goes by weight.... If you want to be successful than you will add 1lbs of copper tubing per gallon of water. some people... If they have a bad outbreak... they add 2 lbs per gallon....
Hopefully that helps you
Circular reasoning… I get the test nowOriginally posted by chieuxuan
