There are different programs in which you can use to resize photos. ACDPro for example, a program in which you pay for, enables you to resize by percentage or by specific pixel size (lets say 800x600 or 600x480). I'm sure there are some programs out there that can do the same. I'll PM you the link address to some free downloads.
 
i2go, do you have ACDSee. You can use these image program to resize the picture. I usually resize non-important pix down to 600 pixel or less at the longest length. Then, it'd be at the correct size usually when you post pix.
 
get the powertoy one. I have it, all you do is right click on the image file and you get a resize option small, med, and large. Easy, fast, and free.
 
If using a Macintosh/Apple "shrink2size" or "resize2mail".

I use photobucket.com and edit picture to "message board" size then save. Then copy img link into the body of your post. Works great.
