Brandon, Also anyone who has known me for more than a month knows I am very scatterbrained and have very poor follow thorough!
Here it is
First I added a little RO water and fresh garlic in the blender and blended till very well chopped but not pure liquid. I actually picked out the few big hunks instead of blending further so as not to make the whole thing garlic water.
I have found it better to blend things one at a time and add to a big mixing bowl so as not to over blend things which is VERY easy to do. It is litterally 2 seconds difference between just right, not enouph and pure mush on the blending art! I read to do the meaty things frozen and it is easier to not turn it to mush.
I then added 2 pounds of fresh shrimp that Joy shelled as fast as I have ever seen someone shell shellfish
. I added again a little RO and blended the shrimp in small amounts since my blender is small and not a good one. Shrimp is real tricky to not turn into shrimp paste. Hardest of all meats I think to blend so be carefull.
I next added siver fish from the Asian market. They kinda look like myasis and range from very tiny to about 2 inches in length. I blended them a dab in small incriments since some of them were kinda big and added to the mix. They are $4.99 for 8 oz.
Squid and cuttlefish was added and they are very hard to blend. The tenticals will not chop and tend to wrap around the blades. This would be a good one to freeze I bet. You have to kinda poke through the blended stuff to pick out the stuff that didn't get chopped. I also got it from the World market frozen.
then I did a small pack of silver fish from AC. Again, you have to be easy on the blender and pick out the big hunks.
Blended up a big pack of Krill... I love this one because it has cool black eyeballs that gross the kids out. It just needs a slight blending to chop it down to bite sizes. With a dab of RO to blend easier.
Drained Myasis and Brine (2 baggs) and rinces well in RO. You have to use a very small wire mesh strainer for this but you will not belive the nasty that comes out of it!! Do not blend for obviouse reasons, just put in the mix.
I picked up a bag of frozen Gammarus from the critter. They looked like pods on steroids. They wer blended just a tiny dab.
I forgot to put in the oysters I had prepared
.
I found this cool nori product from Julia Sprung I like. Its basically chopped nori in all three colors I like to feed instead of fooling with a nori clip when I am lazy. I put a whole can of it in.
Chopped up about 15 sheets of nori with RO after I tore them up good and added.
Added the coral fun stuff in the mix....
Abount 2 cups of cyclopeez
Cyclopeez granuals 1 small can
some pytoplan advanced phytoplankton diet (more was added to SPS baggs after the mix since its very, very fine)
Almost a whole can of reef chilli (more was added tro SPS baggs after)
A whole bottle of Reef plus amino acids was added to mix. I actually soaked the meaty things in this before the meet.
A can of seachem nutridiet fish eggs.
bottle of 9 in 1 artificial artimia
freeze dried brine ( I soaked this in a lot of amino acids first to rehydrate)
1/2 can of Coral frenzy ( a lot like reef chilli)
1/2 can of both formula one & 2 small pellets
Hmmm, I am pretty sure that was it. Sounds yummy Hugh? I tell ya, it really stunk up the house!!
I found if its fed every day it makes the film alage on the glass grow fast and Bill noticed that also. I only feed it more as a treat once or twice a week. With so much small partical matter if you do not have a lot of coral and/or a good skimmer to take out the uneaten particals it can add a ton of nutrients to the tank.
I had about $15-$175 invested in all the mix stuff and it got kinda crazy at the end so I am not sure how many baggs were dished up but you would not have to make such a huge batch naturally. A batch this big would last one person a life time.
I also picked up in the cost some Reef nutrition oyster feast from AC and we did not add it to any baggs. This stuff was pure oil and made my skimmer go NUTS!! It knocked the head right off then a few hours later it went crazy. I sure am glad it is a in sump model!! So it needs to be used only when you can keep a eye on things not in every feeding!
Sorry it took so long to get the list up!! Talk later!!
