Thanks for hosting the meeting today it was very fun and I learned a few things !!!!

Oh and Val, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION!!!!

Garrett

Ditto. James, thanks for hosting. It was fun to meet some new people and nice to see famliar faces again too. Having a club adds a whole new dimension to this great hobby. The chili was YUMMY!

Frags are acclimated and hopefully happy in their new home. Thanks again Tiffany!! The blue mushroom is definitely a different color than mine and I love, love, love the candy cane! I can't see much of the others yet. My clown only bit me three times before I got them all in.

Val, post as many questions as you need to. It's better to get suggestions right up front. Try to find a few build threads to read through. It's great for you that you found RC and a club with knowledgeable members before you got started. That doesn't mean you won't want to change things as you go but it will still be a huge help to you. I started out with a dream, a little help from the LFS (scary) and reading from the internet....didn't stumble on a club till 6 months or so into it.

Garrett, I saw pics of your new tank. Suuuuwwwwweeeeeet!!
It must be a darker finish huh? It looks great.

Thanks all. What do you think, early Feb for the next meeting?

Thanks Cammie I have a black background on it now but I think I am going to take it off and put a blue on on it.

Early Feb?????is that when your tank will be up and running???!!!!LOL

WOW, I don't know where to start...Thanks f or hosting the meeting, James..Alan, Alex and I all learned tons!

Thanks also to Cammie and Tiffany - everything looks like it is acclimated to their new home rather well, except the zoos - they are the only thing that hasn't opened yet to say hello. All of it just added so much to the very little that we currently have.

Garrett, tell Randy thanks for hauling everything up for me to see. I think that the tank will look great once we get it drilled and up and running. I WILL post photos when the projects starts...which unfortunately won't be too soon.

It was great to put faces to names on here!

I have to run though..our Chesapeake is more than likely having her puppies tonight, and I have to check on her now...

Tell Susan that I thought her Chili was absolutely WONDERFUL!!

Glad all of you could make it. A few didn't show up, which is to be expected on the short notice I gave them. Thanks to everyone for your enthusiasm and patience to get the meeting running and keep it going. Thanks again from Susan, the kids and I for visiting with us for the afternoon.

While I was up in Ft Francis, Ontario this afternoon, I stopped and visited with James for a few minutes in International Falls, (Tiffany, aka, GoingPostal, was at work). Wow, they have a neat set up!!! I would be up for a meeting up there and I have no problem car-pooling up there if anyone is interested. I made it to their home from mine in 3 hours. Not too bad for the Cowboy Cadillac and back roading!!

Now, aint that the truth. Feb my tank had better be up and running. Swanwillow will probably pass me up!

Actually, I'm almost done making saltwater, Jason changed his design a bit on the overflow box and then we just need to get it up to temp and start moving things on over. That's all I want for Christmas and I have been a good girl this year.

Val, Alex and Alan I'm glad it all travelled well. This is a tricky time of year for frag trading. I'm sure the zoos will come around. I'm anxious to hear from Tiffany whether the pulsing zenia made it.

Garrett, I like black backgrounds myself but blue would be cool too. I wish we could pain ours but we figure we'll want to see what we can since ours is taller than our half wall there.

I don't think they would have made the travel if it wouldn't have been for, once again, my hero, James. He set me up with a cooler and a heat pack for the ride home. They are all doing wonderful. I only have one question for anyone who can answer it...There seems to be a "cobweb" type substance that continually comes out of the kenya tree? I'm at a loss as to what it is...it's like it is spitting at me!!! Any ideas?

The xenia made it fine, I floated them for a while to warm them up and threw them in. I see those brown polyps you were talking about too. I've seen them on LiveAquaria as "unidentified poylps", guess nobody knows what they are! Now I'm just hoping I don't have bad luck twice w/ Xenia, I love the way it looks. Next meeting we're hoping to frag up some of our leathers for you guys. We have regular and green-polyped toadstools and a blushing one.

Mr. James, you should see the tank when stuff looks happy, right after the lights go on isn't their best look. Glad you liked it anyways.

Dedex, no clue on the kenya but may just be stressed, I know a few of my corals let out stuff and mess up the tank when they are really unhappy. All you can really do is wait it out, those things seem to live through almost anything though.

I've not had my kenya do anything like that but I've had mushrooms look very unhappy and they came out of it. I imagine they'll be fine. Like Tiffany said, they're pretty hardy creatures.

Tiff, I'll understand if you don't like those brown polyps. I don't mind them till they start spreading. We've been just scraping them off. They certainly don't hinder the zenia's growth. I'm glad they made it.

My last bucket of water will be made today and Jason's working on the rock lifts. WAHOO!! I guess we can have our meeting next week. j/k

This is where water params come into question. Is your coral puking and aabout to die?? Or is it thriving and going through some sort of molt. If you were to ask this qquestion out in the main forum, which I encourage you to do, be prepared for some of the following quwestions:

1. Water parameters?? ie, what you have tested and what the results are....

2. Pictures. Now would be a good time to start looking into taking pictures of your tank and livestock and posting them online. Personally, I use Photobucket for all of my pictures for posting. It's easy to do.

3. They may ask what other corals are nearby, maybe one is stinging another, that type of thing.

If it is puking and about to die, it coulsd cause other problems in your tank. And with it being a 20g, the problems will spread MUCH QUICKER!! Now is a good time for a QT tank, even a small one like a 10g. At this time, I may pull it and stick it into QT, if I was unsure as to it's behavior.
