Just wanted to thank stlver1 for meeting me this morning to delivery his blue regal tang to me. I was a bit nervous not ever seeing him before but I appreciate that you were honest and that he is a very healthy fish! Just wanted everyone to know this so others will purchase from you as well. The fish acclimated well and is eating like a pig already. I have wanted a blue regal tang since I began this hobby and was always to afraid to add one, so thanks again...

very nice looking fish. How do you get them to stay still like that....laughing.

The two I have will not stop moving for one second.....:eek1:

This fish I can't believe how comfortable in the tank so fast. When I first put her in, she hung out in the back corner by a powerhead for about 30 min...as soon as the lights came on, I fed the tank, and out she ran to eat. I have good current that the fish like to play in right across the front and she LOVES to do hoops and play in the powerhead current, so she has been out in the open the entire rest of the day...gets along great with the other fish....almost amazingly too good!! yahoo!! I have always been scared to have a blue tang because of the fear of ich. She is healthy and doing great and not a spot on her. She was stressed during the transfer but I also fed my food with garlic this morning to give her a boost......

I feed my Tangs the formula 2 stuff. I have only had one problem with ich, and that was when I was transferring everything around to my new 90 gallon. I feed with the Formula 2 and use Kick Ich and no more ich for 6 months....YEA...

yes, thank goodness I have never dealt with ich yet....cross my fingers and knock on wood! I also feed flake formula 2 and frozen formula 2 w/ garlic. Then sometimes frozen mysis and cyclopeeze....so far so good!

not to change the subject on this thread, I could start a new one. But I notice you feed the frozen formula 2. I picked up some frozen formula 1 (because it said it's good for clowns). How do you use it? I put some in a cup of tank water to let it thaw and it never thawed. Wen I put frozen brineshrimp, the cube is thawed in no time. I didn't know if the frozen formula 2 is the same way. Is there something I don't know about the formula 1?

Steve

Most of the frozen foods I have used, I have had to crush them up after they thawed a little bit. Usually I use a fork and just press them on a cutting board. (NOTE: I use a specific cutting board for the fish food, otherwise trouble arises.... )

that makes me think when I told my mom I needed to use the microwave to thaw a rat for my snake (I was only joking) she bout went crazy. I had to get my own freezer for the garage to keep them in.

Steve

Hey, glad the tang is doing well.....she put up a nice fight this morning when i tried to catch her. She got used to my tank very fast as well.....im glad I had her for the time i did. If i set up another reef, i will have another regal. very nice fish. glad your happy with it!

P.S. Ive also got some nice LR , maroon clown and a good size Coral Banded shrimp if anyone is intrested...not to mention a whoile 72g setup...

Yes, the frozen formula 2 is kind of rubbery.....you have to kind of pull it apart in pieces...all my fish go crazy. It is the only food I can get my kole tang to eat.

Ewwwwwwww, a rat in the microwave.......gross!!!!! Don't you know they have convection ovens now! HAHAHAHA....
YUM YUM.......kinda sounds like a meal bought from the local chinese restaurant.....crispy rat!

stlver1....she is awesome.....has been swimming like crazy in front of one of the powerheads playing the entire day....getting along great with my other fish. I have a set of maroon clowns so she must feel at home! good luck selling everything else. I am very pleased!

how do you post a link to a video on here, I could post one.....
go to post a reply and above the box where you type your message theres a box thats says "http://" click that and a box should pop up where you can just type or paste the link into. then once you post your reply it will apear as a link.

I tried photobucket, I can post pictures, but it won't allow me to upload videos....says invalid files...any ideas?

Is a blue regal tang sufficiently different from an established sailfin tang that he would likely be accepted in a 120 gallon tank? Risky? Unknown? Just depends on personalities?

Beautiful fish Jfolley, it's great to get fish that are completely adjusted and comfortable in aquariums; makes a huge difference!

That rat thing reminds me, my brother did explode a mouse in the microwave once thawing it for his snake; what a mess

I added a regal to my 125 after already having a naso and a sailfin in there. They all get along fine now, although there were a few scuffles at first. They will soon be moved into a larger tank though :)

Matt

yeah I have always been told that if you are gonna mix tangs, like a sailfin or yellow, you add them last since they are more into causing a battle. I would think a sailfin and a blue regal would be fine...totally different body structures.

I thaw out my formula 2 for a bit then take'em all out and cut them into portions, usually 8 pieces, just enough that my fish will eat then I put them back into the freezer. When I take the portions out, I thaw them again and smash'em with my fingers into mesh pieces then feed'em to my fish. :)

Thats just too much work for me  I'll pick up some formula 1 flakes and continue to feed the frozen brine. If anyone wants some frozen formula 1, they can have it. I only used 2 cubes and bought it last week. Oh...nice tang!

Steve

HI Steve, would love the formula 1 if you are coming to the meeting...it is at my house......my fish love that stuff! Like the idea Mike also about the portion cutting up, I think I am going to try that...seems it will also make the food last a little longer. Good idea!
