Thanks!

I'm sorry, that thread got high-jacked a bit:D I have to say,it's the Club officers that deserve the credit for getting this thing off the ground. Most of the work for a show gets done way before it starts.

Thanks to:
Mike C.
Erik K.
Tom B.
Paul P.
Steve Y.
Jim G.
John J.
Chris C.
And to anyone else that I may have missed!

I appreciate that you guys plan and initiate this swap so I don't have to!:p Even if there is some side "stuff" that happens there, it's still a great time.

My vote for next year would be the Holiday Inn Strongsville again or check on the Pipefitters local 120 hall in Indepenance a nice sized area with all the electric we could need and water on the floor no big deal either, a kitchen attached, full bar set up, I just attended a Fire Pump and Fire Service Main Seminar there this last week and the place is awesome just my thoughts

My vote is to blame all past, present, and future power outages, floods, hurricanes, blizzards, and especially pipes bursting on Kreeger.

Great swap guys.

I think were going to find a new location next year for the swap. The power outages point blank sucked but it wasn't the fault of C-sea as one vendor that won't be back acted like it was.
Erik

I think I know who you're talking about... The guy from YZ Reef was running his mouth pretty badly after the second power outage, which I thought was pretty immature. Oh well, though, you'll have them in every group.

I think it was a successful swap though. Well organized, and a large variety of frags to choose from. I just wish I could support some of the hard corals seeing as how that was the majority of what was there, although I did score some major deals on softies and ricordea's. Thanks again everyone, and I'll be looking forward to the next one!

I have two words!! Freaking Awesome!!! thanks to C-sea and all that helped out. Had a great time got alot of nice frags.
thanks to all I got frags from everything looks great!

Thanks
Sean

i also had a great time. it was good to put some faces to the names on here. first time at a frag swap and the deals were great just like the frags. when i came i was walking in with one of the members that frequents this hall bar . he was not happy with the parking situation one bit. then again he wasnt happy with the baby shower the week before. theres always going to be someone crying about something. thats why when he was complainig i just smiled and said well then you have a nice day(kill them with kindness). great job to everbody that was involved with the planning.

mike

I found that everyone was in a great mood except for that one guy who is always crying about things. ( Janda) in think..

Yeh, his first name is John!

lol

thanks again to everyone fro the C-Sea team.

Good time, Good people

All I can say about the power was that the club did tell everyone to leave the metal halides at home. I don't think it is absolutely necessary to use them at a frag swap. I know of one vendor that was selling all of his frags and they were displayed under VHO. Smart move in my opinion. I think the corals would be fine under VHO or PC for a few hours.

WHAT!?! Don't you know that all corals live 8" from 400w halides in the wild 24 hours a day?

Seriously, some of the "portable" lighting systems are absurd. You can get the same colors out of 2x24w T5s.

S !

Hi,

If the club is really serious about the lighting issue just tell the vendors & swappers if they bring MH lighting they will not be allowed to set up at the swap. That should make them pay attention.

Dave

After reading through this, one would think it was a disaster.

The lights were intermittent, but they were on long enough for me to see every display at least 3 times. I have no problem with a change of venue, but I think everything was fantastic.

Thanks one and all of the leadership, Mike C, Erik etc, that provided a nice swap within the limits/difficulties that this function brings.

That Dog gone J2PIZZA!!!!! HE WON AGAIN!!!!...Incredulous even...lol Congrats Joe/Jen.

Side Note…thought it was rather odd that the lodge member who helped with parking pulled me aside when I went out to my truck to get something. That one of our peers told him to take a flying leap about moving his car out of the illegal parking area.

I guess he was so surprised he just had to tell someone…anyone that one of us said something so foul to him when all he was doing was making it is easier for our group. I told him I was sorry to hear that someone from our group/attendees through their own self-important view decided to treat him like a peon.

Sounds like it went well. Too bad I had to miss it due to being at the chiro. and rehab. most of the day, hopefully the back and knee will be good to go when the next one comes around.

I have to agree that we dont need metal halides. I was running T-5s. There would be less of a power issue if vendors used T-5s or VHOs/PCs. Another advantage with them is that IF there is a power issue, when its resolved your lights come right back on. The MH have to cool down before they will re-fire.

Again, great job everyone. Big thanks to all involved.

Now, lets see some pics of what everyone got, and from who. :smokin:

Zeppelin, I have to say I was really impressed with your setup, and was surprised to see you were one of the few who actually left the MH's at home. Your frags looked great, and I wish I could have gotten something from you, but my current setup wouldn't support most of the stuff you had available. Looking forward to checking out your selection during the next swap, and maybe I'll be able to get something from ya then.

Maybe this will be a lesson to everyone for next year. If the organization says beforehand to leave the expensive, power draining setups at home, well, maybe you should.

Again, great job to everyone involved! I wish I lived closer so I could help out with the next one.

I was a frag swap virgin until Saturday, and am so new to SW that you can see it on my face!!! LOL! I thought it was great! Thanks to EVERYONE involved in organizing and volunteering who truly made it as successful as it was.

I joined C-SEA, bought my first corals (which I'm not even sure I know what they are!). I have only been on the boards for a few days and have only posted once, so I really didn't try to 'meet' anyone. I just wandered around and looked, trying to learn as much as I could considering the environment. Every vendor treated me the same as they treated those in the know & I can't say how much that meant to me.

While not foolish with my money, it felt good to know these guys asked about my system, current set-up & my knowledge level, then offered suggestions for what I should try and what I'm not ready for yet, instead of just separating me from the cash!!! That, to me, says more than anything else I can think of!! I'm already looking forward to next year when I can ask intelligent questions and maybe even identify what I'm looking at/thinking about!!

I've got a reef tank!!! I've got a reef tank!!! I'm somebody!!!

I brought my daughter and man we had a blast. She loves selling my little frags and she loves making me buy her big frags. We could not have had a better time. You guys who put in all the hard work deserve all the credit. Hats off to you all!
As for the outageges, I was a victim also, but they were short-lived and we were there to have a good time so we just rolled with it. We sold some and then we bought some...I think we broke even. That means we did good!

to qoute cleveyank

Side Note…thought it was rather odd that the lodge member who helped with parking pulled me aside when I went out to my truck to get something. That one of our peers told him to take a flying leap about moving his car out of the illegal parking area

I witnessed this altercation as i was taking a load to the truck this was not someone that was there for the swap just a local hangingout in the bar complaining about everything that was goin on the guy was a real you know what!!

just to clear that up !!

Sean

This was my first Cleveland swap and it was fantastic...got some great deals and had a blast...thank you to all that worked to put this on as I have done trade shows at work in the past and I know it is a thankless, sometimes overwhelming job. You get all the complaints like you did it to the individual vendors on purpose. I am already looking forward to next years event and will be trying to attend more meetings this year. Thanks again

For those of you coming to this swap for the first time, we alternate with Columbus. In the fall they have their swap which is just as big and just as much fun, so you get to go to these twice a year. :)
