Mbbuna,
So as you can see from the link you gave, you'll be left with more question marks after reading it.

FWD and Metro didnt work for many, sometimes it does work temp.

I dont agree with Barry about the wide spread of the disease, I have seen it in few countries already.

Vili in that thread my user name is Chris&Barb,i too have Pinched Mantle.i put the note of the 3min. FWD because you asked why the lab couldnt tell us what would kill the Protozoan.thats just what they said would kill it.i have done many 30min.FWD's,i did a long term Metro treatment, and i also used 2 other meds that didnt work.i dont know how wide spread it is.here's another thread if your intrested.

Hi,
So from what I read ,I understand, there is no cure so far for this disease which might as well be few different kinds of causes that are showing the same sypmthoms.

Well, I did a FWD last night for 20 minutes. This morning my clam is gaping and his mantle is sucken in. He keeps opening and closing like somethings bothering him.

I guess I'll wait and see how it turns out. I probably waited too long to do the FWD....

i just did a FWD on my crocea (for the umteenth time) and he looks good again. this condition stinks. i wish we could get this handled. i am scared to put anymroe clams in my tank now. i hear it is contageous.

it is very contagious ,you can keep them alive with the FWD's just hang in there a little while longer.

I guess what everybody would like to hear is:

When, if at all, can I safely add more clams?

Unfortunately the answer seems to elude us for now...

By the way, FWD seemed to work on my clams, I had to do two FWD a week apart each. , I had two new clams infected, however that did not seem to spread to my older clam residents in the same tank.

Omar

glad to here that Omar. im in the same boat with this, and im doing my best to be patient , its not easy, but its all i can do.

What vendor did you get your clams from? I am so scared to add any new clams since mine are doing so well and I haven't lost 1 yet

Sending you a PM because they are a well known vendor here on RC and some fanboy will no doubt flame me for bad mouthing his favorite vendor.

How fast will PM kill a clam? My crocea's mantle was retracted on one end yesterday morning, only about an inch of it (was a 4-5" clam). By evening, clam was dead. :( The mantle was still intact, but when I looked at it from the underside, the foot was gone and the mantle was the ONLY thing left. It's the only clam I had so I'm not worried about losing more, but I'm feeling like something I did wrong caused its death. I'd had it for almost a year and it looked gorgeous the whole time. :(
