That time of year?

Loved my sled - better exercise than you might think too. But it sucked to have to trailer it out someplace to the trails, and then trailer it back again. I won't get another sled until I can ride it right out of my garage and easily pick up the trails...

On skiing/ snowboarding....
bristol and swain...SUCK! hahah.. well after three years at paul smiths and paying 30 bucks for a all day lift ticket to whiteface and tupper lake I just can't bring myself to drop 50 to play on these anthills. Kissing bridge and Holiday Valley don't even enter the equation as they don't have terrain parks to speak of.
I have been to stratton, VT a few times this year though and it has been a banner year for snow over there.

superkat: Love it. just don't close your eyes for too long hahahaha. I am picturing you sledding with your life jacket on hahahaha ;)

I agree becon about the hills being puny but..... it's what we have and it's about getting out and having fun.

If your poor like me, you get discount tickets and it cost $15 for a lift ticket.

I'm fortunate in that I'm 15 minutes away from Bristol and Hunt Hollow. After I'm done for the night, I throw the kids in the truck and we're warming up by the fire. Speaking of which, Hunt hollow is small but it's got a great family atmosphere and their lodge is like a small hunting lodge, very quaint.

use to ski when I was in High school but blewout my knee. besides I work outside in this crap Think thats enough time outside Lets hear it for beer and couch potatoes

As nutty as I used to get on the trails, nothing compares to the fear I have while out on the road.

It's the opposite for me. Road riding doesn't phase me much, but the thought of plummeting down a steep narrow mountain trail scares the crap out of me. I guess it's one of those "what you're used to" things. :) Knock on wood, I've only had one low-speed collision with a car and it really didn't cause any damage. Meanwhile, my insane-in-the-membrane older brother rides/races MTBs and it seems like he's torn up good at least once a season.

I'm curious how many people who dread winter do winter sports. It seems to help if you can get out and do some downhill or cross country, winter camping, etc.

Cross country when I was young, then downhill in high school/college, now back to cross country. I really detest crowds, and cross country is vastly cheaper.
