That was a great swap meet!

It was my first so I was not as prepared as I should have been, but I had a blast!
I got rid of everything I brought, and ended up taking home some cool purchases and trades.
(That's the first time I've come home with corals AND extra money in my pocket.) LOL

Thanks to everyone who was interested in actually trading/swapping, and a big thanks to Eco Reef and FMAS for making it all happen.

Next year I'm gonna make a checklist of everything I forgot to bring this year, and also all the tips I learned from the veterans.
Hope everyone else enjoyed the day as much as I did.
The only thing that could have made it better would have been to take home those Picasso clowns... *sigh* :p

So,... when's the next one??? ;) :D

Also had a great time, and a big Thanks to Eco Reef and FMAS for making it all happen. Here a little sneak peek of some of my goods that I bought at the swap (Thanks Ty)

I had alot of fun. I sold a little, bought a lot, and even won a maxi jet 900! Overall it was alot more fun then I thought it was going to be. Everyone had great corals, at great prices. All the comercial vendors did a great job and were real friendly.

I also really liked the raffle. There were quality prizes to be won. Not like some filter floss but the kalk reactor, rare clown fish, refractometer, etc...

I also have a few of Julian Sprungs books myself I was very happy to finally meet him. He also gave me some free zooplankton, very nice guy.

I am still acclimating the corals I bought but I can already see them opening up.

Thanks again to Eco Reef and FMAS for a great frag swap!

Definitely thanks to all sponsors of the Frag Swap, and of course to FMAS for putting it all together. I had a great time, brought home some nice frags, beautiful fish, spent a buttload of money, and in the end, it was all worth it.

Did you have to be present to win something at the raffle? I had to leave early due to a family matter, so I wasn't there for the drawing.

the swap was awesome, i sold tons and got some great trades, as well as having some great conversations. scored a great deal on a MH pendant from Julian Sprung(a super generous guy).

thanks fmas for having such an organized event. things ran very smoothly for such a large crowd.

thanks,
jess

I enjoyed the frag swap too....
I was able to find a few of the frags I was looking for, and picked many of the already reserved pieces I had.
The only thing I think will be better nest year would be a bigger place to hold the swap at...

loyalrogue,
i just checked out your frags, they are already open. when i went to check my frag swap i was like whoa where did those come from. they where yours and they look great. good job

damn....i hate i missed out....sounds like alot of good fun happened today....

Did anyone by chance have a flame hawkfish for sale?

If anyone has pics please post them up...would definitely love to see how everything was layed out.

Nick

i agree...my first time at the swap...look forward to having a table next year...would love a larger venue to host it at.

great job everyone!

i think it was pretty cool to have a table next to Julian Sprung and be selling frags side by side. Kinda makes you feel like the best club around.

Wow, what a day!! We brought almost 40 frags, and sold everything by 1pm (for anyone who doesn't know me, my wife and I were the ones with frags in the pre-packaged deli containers). We took home 11 new frags - a mix of acros, montiporas, and zoanthids. Then, to top it all off, we won the raffle for the 2-night stay at the Westin Diplomat!

I can't wait for the next one! :D :D

-Jeff

btw, this venue was MUCH larger (and better) than the previous swap.

We bought them at Restaurant Depot, a Sam's/Costco type warehouse for restaurants. It's on 84, about a half mile east of University (a little past the CarMax). They usually require a business license and membership to shop, but we sweet-talked them into a guest pass and stocked up a few weeks ago. We got the idea from Darcy (45commando), who sometimes re-uses the chinese soup containers, but my wife (great shopper that she is) found this place to buy them.

MUCH easier than dealing with bags, at least for someone like me who's never worked in a LFS. :D

Awesome, glad you liked them.
Coming from you that's a real compliment.
I love all the zoa frags I've gotten from you, and the pink plague ones I got from you today are already open and look sweet under my VHOs.
(Thanks for the free chalice too!)

Btw, which ones did you like? The red/blue ones (which I'm submitting to ZoaID as "Black Cherries"), or the freebies (Bahama Mamas & Speckled Lavender) that were a little appreciation gift for having such nice frags? ;) :D
