Yep you read it right. This is a pre tank thread thread.
I'm hoping for this thread to become my tank's brainstorm session.
I'm getting ready to hook up a sweet 180 I picked up for and even sweeter deal.
I'm crossroads on a few decisions.
BB or SSB
I definitely don't want a lot of sand in the tank; if any at all. I'm debating using starboard
and maybe an inch of sand. I would like to keep some wrasses in this tank.
I'm also wondering if 3/8" starboard is good enough. Especially if I don't use any sand.
For flow I am going to use two Ehiem 1262 running through two wavy seas and also two tunze 6100
on a 7095 controller. Anyone for see any problems with this. I have all this equipment. I've
been planning this tank for two years, it originally started with a 120 that's still in the
garage.
Lighting
The tank came with a 72" Odyssea fixture. 3-250 DE, 2 PCs and 8 LED moonlights. I know it isn't the greatest fixture. I can use this until I can convince myself to drop coin on a better fixture.
The tank came with a really nice canopy. I can use this and incorporate equipment I have: 2-250w Hamilton Reefstar Pendants, 1 regular 250w SE spider reflector (all 3 on Icecap 250w ballast), and I can use four 54w T5s.
Again this is the current equipment I own. I really would like to go open top, but I'm not against using the canopy (especially since there are children running around and I've had to scoop out crayons and balls out of my 24 gallon aquapod).
I think that's it for now. Thanks.
