Well i just picked up my new AGA 120g to take the place of my AGA 125g 6 ft tank.
(6 ft did not fit in new house)just incase the question arose:D

I'm looking for pics of how you guys have have your 120's set up,rock work and such.
As of now i have 6ft of rock not sure how i'm gonna cram it in a 4ft tank.
As i get the new tank started i'll log the pics, but for now i want to see yours,Let um shine:)

I wouldn't cram anything into the new tank.

I would put in what will fit and look good in the process and put the rest in the sump or give to a fellow reefer.

good luck with your new tank.

it was meant more as a joke:D But with that said i have mostly large pieces. So i was thinking about busting up what was left over and giving the rubble bottom a try from the start.

But thanks.

A rubble bottom will catch/collect quite a bit of detrius, will you have sand underneath that?

There will be no sand.I've thought the rubble bottom would catch alot of dirt myself. But seems some are having succes with it, and reporting no build up in the rubble, mine would be mostly branch rock and sort of open just enough to give it a covered look.
I figured why not give a try.if it dont work i'll take it out.:D

Mine is pretty drab because it has just started up and I have had a few problems due to my own ignorance. Good luck with yours.

Looks like it is off to a good start.thanks for the pics,I hate the thought of restarting again. But gives me a chance to tinker, while my corals rest in another tank.

120 AGA bare-bottom
90 lbs of rock
Two eductors driven by Iwaki 55-RLT
One 6000 Tunze
Two PFO Minis with 250-watt 10,000K Ushio bulbs
Precision Marine Bullet 3, driven by an Iwaki 40-RLT
Limewater drip.

Tank was exactly one year old when the picture was taken (Jan 29th). Only problem I have is rhodophytes. (Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m not real fond of the size and position of the overflows. I like the corner overflows better.)

Nice weatherman,i really dont like the mega flow ethier.I was lucky enough to find a brand new tank with the corner overflows.
:) on the 6ft tank i think the mega flow was the way to go,not corners.altho it looks better.

Weatherman

Do you have an idea of what your turnover rate is?

Im gonna be using 2 6100's. my return will slow at first 400-600gph.i have a rio seio 850 and thinking of buying another 1500
and use these 2 pumps to blow behind the rock work forward twoards the outer corners, while setting up my tunze kinda facing like your eductors.

I had no idea they were going back to corner overflows. I just bought one with the two on the back:rolleyes:

Weatherman,
Have you tried pointing that Tunze at the front glass? I have the same basic config in my 90 and was thinking about adding the Stream to the 120 for some random flow.

thanks, Chris

There not,I just happen to find a guy that had a brand new one sitting in his basement that he never got to set up. :)

don't forget...your new 120g. is 6" deeper, which can make for a more layered aquascape, which in turn uses more rock.

The first pic is my perfecto 120 same size but with only one overflow.Ther is only 100lbs of rock in there. The second pic is same tank but its an older pic and shows the rock a little better.

Good point.I'm gonna go for the "U" shaped look in the tank and try to take advantage of those extra inchs. But we'll see what happens. And where are your pics?:)

They are 6100,s and I also have a dart for the return which points straight down behind the rocks to prevent any buildup back there.
