The baby goniopora experiment

I love scouring LFS tanks for cool little things...a few months ago I saw this tiny little green ball, a grand 1/4" across, in the bottom of one of my LFS tanks. Its the tank that they sell a lot of goniopora in, and I could tell it was a bud from one of them. I got it of course

I am curious if this goni will prove to be hardier than other green gonis, given that it came from a goniopora that was reproducing and that it's spent its whole life in an aquarium.

I will document its growth over time, see if it grows faster than my other gonis. Its doubled its skeleton size already, from 1/4" to a whopping 1/2"!!! Lots more tentacles too, it only had a few when I got it. We'll see how it goes with time When it gets large enough to frag I'll give frags to friends of mine and see if they have good luck with it too.

Well, a milli got too close to the baby goni, ended up stinging it and killing half of it. Kinda would have expected the opposite. Anyway, moved the goni away and its recovering nicely. Also found two more buds yesterday, have added them and am very curious how fast they'll grow as well.

Unfortunately I had an alk swing, killed them. Up until that point, they were all doing quite well, growing fairly quickly.
