The Big Controller Comparison Chart.

Re Aquatronica and Profilux vs Aquastar, I really can't comment on which is better but I think the chart kind of gives you an idea of which is better in what area's.

I agree about the Biomatix, I also think they just took way to long to get it to market.

Aquarium owners often hear of aquarium controllers but are overwhelmed or don't know where to start and therefore never consider purchasing a controller.

This is me to a tee! Thank you RobbyG, I will definately be doing some reading, but had to give you an attaboy before I began

Yes but you don't have $2000 worth of livestock depending on you during high school chem class ;)

If I use two Thermometers and one reads 76 Deg and the other Reads 79 Deg which one do I believe??

If I have 3 it now removes that doubt.

As too the triple calibration, we don't even use three calibration points doing simple analytical chemistry in school.

It will be real interesting to see how the Real time power monitoring works out. I am very interested to know how it will deal with short circuits.

That's surprising. The pH monitor in the biochem lab I worked in during college always used 3-point calibration. Probes are not linear, so a 3rd point is needed to more accurately calculate their response curve.

I can take two new probes with my ACIII, calibrate them (letting each probe settle for 10 minutes before storing the data points), and the probes will often differ by .05 unit or more when placed in the same SW. That just shouldn't happen when trying to monitor pH, and I believe if they used 3-point calibration it could be eliminated.

I bought some pH 9 cal fluid to use for the high point, this should give more accurate readings. (At least ACIIIs let you choose the low/high cal fluid values, which is nice.)

UPDATED 23 JAN 2008

Update and added lots of stuff to the Chart.

As usual the basic XLS version works the best. The complex XLS still has Numerous bugs and the HTML never translates 100% correctly. sorry

In any case the XLS is perfect so
Enjoy.

Robby, - the new changes messed up your links to the actual charts.
Tried it in Firefox and IE - All I get is bumped back to the main page - Feb 19 10:56 pm EST

UPDATE 04-June-08

Added the New ReefKeeper Elite and the Biomatix to the controller chart, also all new 2008 add-on items for various controllers have been included in the chart.

Enjoy

The basic xls version works best, the advanced xls is now working good also. Unfortunately the html version still has problems due to the excel conversion process.

BTW thanks Beerguy for fixing the thread.

How do I get the comparison chart to save properly in Excel? It saves as a picture as opposed to columns and rows! I expanded text to 200% and still can not make out the working!
Help Please!

Huh never seen that problem before. You are clicking on the Charts Icon, that should just bring up a window asking to save it as an xls file.

It does it for me also. It takes me to the home page no matter which chart I click on. When I try to right click and "save as" it just saves the html file for the home page. I have been trying to view the charts for a week but no luck.

I use IE7, could that be the problem?

OK, it's IE7, cause I have Firefox installed also and I have no problem when I use it....:D
