the.............................. Big one..........

ian

the tank is in the wall, there is a seperating stud being put up, so in short the is only one main veiwing pane, other than that, you will still be able to look in all sides in the fish room

im going to put on the privacy screen that you put on car windows, this will stop you looking through on the veiwing side but allow me to look through on the equipment room side

as for the sand seperators, yep, should be a good idea

and im sure it will work in practice

as promised guys......................................more pics of progress

firstly, the front of the building has been rendered, so i can paint it at the weekend, the small hole on the left is for the plumbing to run through for the 2 x deltec 88w eco coolers

this runs from the front, through the wall, behind a shelf and into the engine room

render.jpg

heres the shelf only in stud until tomorow

the next picture shows the two access holes above the tank, these will allow me to open up from the front for maintenance

frontoftankandstud.jpg

the next picture shows the door liner in, this will allow myself to walk through to the engine room from the veiwing side

and this picture is just a view to the veiwing side through the tank, from the engine room

well

its been one of those weekends, just seems like i havnt acheived much at all

anyway the building is basically finished, so its all up to me now

so ive painted the outside, put in some vents, wired in the alarm for the building and put up a PIR external light

also built a metal shed, funnily enough, it came from the states

just a basic tidy up realy

as for the inside of the building, ive cleared the fish room side and put 2 coats of silk on the celing, the rest will be tiled floor to ceiling, all electrics will be surface mounted for accesability

also got a 6 ft flourescent in, and should we have a power cut, this will also give me 3 hours of extra light to work in

heres the pics anyways

wow, great build, super nice tank, my experience is that super fine sand gets blown everywhere, I started with no sand in my display with a remote sand bed some 15 meters away in my equipment room, it somehow found it's way to cover my display about 1/2 inch deep! and that's just from low flow through the sumps

sorry theres been a bit of a delay in posting

but ive been realy busy, work and fish, and of to dahab, Egypt on thursday, diveing, so i have had to push on a bit

quick progress report

the tiling is nearly complete and the vats are in, on a very semi temporary (still alot to be done )basis

so heres a few pics

view through the tank

a quick reminder, that these vats are food grade

foodgrade.jpg

the overflow connections between the sumps, all in 63mm x 2

overflowconnection.jpg

and the final stage, which will have an ITT AG16 pump connected to it, this will be the manifold feed and return pump, as well as 2 x other connections for redundancy, incase another pump fails, then i can add a sequence for a short term fix

otherconnections.jpg

returnpump.jpg

that should do for now, ill put more up, when i return from diveing, then i can realy get this project moveing

i know, i know.........

long overdue an update, but there will be one coming soon, ive now managed to finish the tiling, give or take a small amount of grouting left to do, and i never want to tile again in my life.

and the building work...well, the building work on the house will finally comence on monday, so at last we can push on, this means that the shell of the extension will be up and weatherproof for christmas

it also means that in the first few days, i will get the chance to dig my armoured cable in, all the way to the fish room, bring on the mini digger

it also means that for a short period, nothing much will happen, due to the viewing side of the fish room being used for storage of stuff from the house, but i should be able to get the kitchen units in there and possibly the sink, i should also be able to run the water supply up there as well as the ethernet cable

so things are looking good

and i will get some more pics up as soon as i can

Nice dive site! where is this?

cheers spookey

dougie

the diving was from Dahab, red sea, its in the gulf of Sinai, (well known for the blue hole) spent 6 weeks there so far this year, and if i could get another couple in, i would

but i dont think that the blonde haired cheif of staff would let me:p

however, i will be going again next year, but i did manage to get a lot of inspiration for my aquascaping
