its about time they say

not a great deal has happened, mainly due to work on the house, but i have managed to get a couple of pics of the small amount of progress that has taken place

sorry about the poor quality, taken on phone, have not got a clue where the camera is

so here goes

kitchen units are in and secure, just got to put on the worktop and plumb in the sink

4.jpg

veiw through the tank, from veiwing side, the back of the tank is going to be coated in a black privacy screen

5.jpg

bits and bobs

7.jpg

the rest of the pics show the racking, this will be getting painted in black very soon, but it does give you a general idea, this racking will hold a couple of tonne per level, you can see the frag tanks stacked above each other, the fuge over the sump tanks and an area where both skimmers and external micron bag holder will go

along way to go yet, but getting there slowly

thank god for freinds in the right places eh

ill keep you all posted

Looks great!

In the last pic I see some Spectra thera+ fish food... how big is that container?!? I need one like that :D

Keep up the great work!!!

wow im posting again.. what are you going to do for the humidity in the room where in the UK its pretty humid on the best of days love the tiling too

stunreefer

its a big ol tub of spectra, should last a while, its a commercial size

asmodeus

tiling......................never want to do it again, took me bloody ages to get all that done

as for humidity, i have a dehumidifier in there at the moment, just temporary, but once all the electrics is finished, there will be a humidistat and fan system, to keep the humidity out of the room

including, venting the tops of the skimmers to outside

we will see

thanks for following and i will keep you all up to date

WOW remarkable set up!

Any concerns with splashing and/or too much moisture getting into the vortech dry side?

The tank itself appears to overlap the plywood on the stand is that correct or just the photo?

What is the small box in the bottom of the tank. And 1 last thing..............well for now what are the demensions?

I love how well though out this system is.

Underwaterparadise

no concerns whatsoever with splashing etc, the whole room is tiled and the electrics, when done, will all be weatherproffed to prevent water ingress, RCD,s everywhere with redundency circuits built in and text notification should there be total power loss

the tank does overlap the plywood, by 1cm all the way round, this will allow to take up for compression in the poly, when the tank is full, then any left over will be filled

the tank itself is 96" x 42"tall x 48"front to back, but only has a 36" water depth, this gives 6" of play in the tank to allow for surge, splash etc

the small box in the photo, which is actually quite large, will have 2 x 50mm bulkheads these in turn will be the feeds for each of the closed loops, one oceans motions 4 way on each end of the tank, fed by an ITT AG14 each

the box itself has been CNC,d along its inner edges, this will allow me to slide in some eggcrate to act as a large strainer, but also there will be a strainer on each 50mm bulkhead

hope that helps

heres a few more pics

it was my birthday today, so i spent most of it in my sanctuary, playing around in the fish room

these are my return and closed loop pumps

1 x ITT AG16 return and manifold

2 x ITT AG14,s running an oceans motions 4 way at each end of tank

1.jpg

got the micron bag holder in position, this is acrylic, 48" x 12" x 24", it has 2 seperate chambers andd each chamber has 2 bags in it, these can be run independantly of each other, and the whole unit can be remote from the tank

6.jpg

got the big old carbon reactor in position

7.jpg

the next few pics, show the 2 frag tanks up and running, as a freind recently got into the hobby and needed somewhere to store his first few bits, while he sets his tank up

you will also notice the strainers on each frag tank, these are the dogs nuts, george fischer, special order, the actual fittings are 50mm each and open up to 63 mm with a perforated red dome on top, attention to detail, i love em

Those pumps look like they are designed for swimming pools with that internal leaf basket.

And the orange strainers look neat. Do they glow under moonlighting? ;)

quick update

not been up to too much, managed to get the manifold in for running smaller peices of equipment, this has 6 ports, one to the right which feeds the 4 way micron bag holder (now running)

and 5 to the left, to run ancilary equipment, such as carbon, fuge, zeo reactors etc

also got out a couple of toys, schuran jetstream 2 calcium reactor

5.jpg

and 4 way 220w uv

6.jpg

just making sure all is ok

currently not running skimmers, due to a very long ewait on some plumbing, nearly 2 weeks now, hacked off is an understatement
