no no calc done on pwer consumption yet, however, i have left myself a reasonable budget each month for this, play it by ear

no flow diagrams, i did start, but ended up getting ahead of myself and just started to do it anyway, it basically runs like a larger version of a normal sumped system, with a few small additions to pass the water around

no problem at all

vats and racking, were just a case of freinds in the right places, but the vats themselves are something that can easily be picked up online, in storage solution places, or plastic vats etc

Thanks Rupert,

Could you get me a link to the vats please?.
For some reason, I can't find them online.
Many have got them from eBay, but again I haven't seen them.....

I must be searching for the wrong thing.
Thanks
Mo

I have come up with a few similar vats by searching online, but nothing that I like as much as these. Also everything I have found is VERY expensive.

well

ive just had a practice sheets of black privacy screen put on the overflows of the back of my tank

this is the stuff they use on car windows, you can see out (from back of tank to front)

but have limited vision in (from veiwing side to rear of tank, fish room)

this seems to work very well, so i will be getting the full back done and this will allow my tank to be viewable from all sides, but will look like it has a black backing

heres a few pics, taken on phone, so not great

I'm quite excited by this idea. I looked at one-way mirrors to do the same kind of thing, but finally decided that the mirror would drive the fish insane.

Here is a straight on picture of my tank. You can see that I have a 3 foot section in the centre of the back wall that allows one to see straight into the fish room. I would never want to lose that fishroom view, but from the front the fishroom can be distracting.

Another idea would be just to hang a blue/black curtain across the opening.

You might be able to see that I also painted everything in the fishroom blue to minimize the distraction.

Anyway, I'm really interested to see how this turns out for you.
