I've just set up a 75 gallon with a 30 gallon sump with a BM100 sitting in 10 inches of water. Total water is probably around 80 gallons or so. I have no fish in the aquarium and about 10 lbs of live rock. I've already emptied the skimmer three times. Granted it was not black but medium dark green with some solids. I'd say that's pretty good for little to no bioload. I have 2 hermits and I've fed a quarter frozen cube of food three times.

The new one will come with a wider neck desgin and will perform better , you going to love it .

So are these available in the states anymore? Has there been any improvement in the pump situation? It seems like a great skimmer especially for the money w/ the exception of the pump being garbage. Thoughts??? Long time users feel free to chime in. Thanks.

I don't find the pump to be garbage. It has been consistently running quietly and pulling air since I plugged it in a month ago.

It's only been a month, and if you read this thread you will find that you are the rare minority. Almost everyone has restart problems or complete failures, and about 50% seem to have them w/in the first week. Consider yourself lucky. What I am saying is that I think that the skimmer is such a great deal, that I would buy one and replace the pump immediately if I knew it was possible to do so.

I've read the thread and I am aware of the restart issues/failures. I've had Bubble Kings, ASMs and Euro reefs that I have had to blow in the tube for to restart though... Hopefully mine stays its course. If not, I know I can rely on nuocean as the service I've received so far is top-notch.

I've had 2 bm150's running for over 3 months and have not yet had one issue with the pumps. Maybe I'm lucky, but Chris does stand behind these skimmers.

I've had my BM100 since July or August....and my skimmer works just fine. I haven't had any start up problems yet... (of course knock on wood) and it's been skimming great.

That is great. I'm interested in this product, and I think I'm going to purchase one, I'm just being cautious. The next step is to attempt to find one. I don't want to order a 220V from Hong Kong, and I would still like to updgrade the pump if possible. I'm glad that some are having good luck. I'm looking at the small model, and those seem to be the ones having the most pump failures. The big guys have stayed pretty quiet which is great.

It could also be due to the squeaky wheel theory...most people who have purchased it have been very happy and don't make a sound, but the ones who have had issues have posted here to have them resolved.

The BM100 is apparently going through a design change, and that could help with many of the issues, or non-issues, depending on whose pump it is.

I was order the mesh impeller
but i understand it is very difficult to remove the needle wheel
anyone try to remove the needle wheel from ATMAN 2500 ?

Also does anyone know if Sedra5000 impeller fit to Atman pump ?

thanks
