The building of my 350 G tank

luamada

Love saltwater fishes...
It am very excited with the build of my 350G tank.
It all started as a dream. I love salt water and then I want a large list of fishes. I researched the tanks over and over and realized that I needed a big tank.
The project started with the list of fish that I wanted to have. I talked to some of the people here. I want a 180 G then they said that I could not have all the fishes in that size tank, so here we go to a large one to have our fish list.
Now I have a 72 gallons tank with starfire glass on the front and sides so I wanted one the same way. If you do not have starfire you cannot see the difference but once you have it, you got have it...hehe... it is interesting.

1- First I started my 55 quarantine tank while I was researching the display tank. Then I decided to go with a brand name and one that has a great reputation because I am afraid of leaks...
2- I ordered the tank in February and they told me it was going to take a long time due to the amount of business they had but I was ok with the waiting.
3- I got the Lights 3 RADION PRO and I am using the wide angle lenses on them as well. (I am using one of the lights on the 55 G for my new corals)
4- Got the Apex system and the Modules to make the lights wireless... don't like the wires... I have not used them yet... still working on the tank.
5- Tank was delivered and we got the plumbing going and I order a autotopoff acrylic container to fit the space in the bottom behind the sump. I love my sump and the refugium area. Now I got the rest of the white sand #0 and now we are getting the landscape on it.

6- The container for the saltwater for the auto water change is ready and we are staring our first saltwater mix with Red Sea Salt... great trace elements...
SO EXCITED...

The delivery day...
We had the company deliver the tank so I would not have to worry about it, but it still was something also...
The company had 6 strong man delivering the tank... I had to remove the trees in the back and remove part of my screen due to the size of the tank. It would not fit in any other door except the sliding glass door. The Sump and the tank with the cabinet and canopy were all delivered in the same day. I register it all with pictures and a movie... after all this is my dream coming true...
yeay...

Big tank, tiny picture :( Big tank, BIG picture :). Looks really nice, happy building. I still think the build process is the most fun part. Once it's done and stable it's a bit like Chevy Chase looking at the Grand Canyon .... .... for me, at least!

tagging along, looks like alot of fun! you should get an account on photobucket and host your pics there, will make reading the thread that much more fun with full size pictures.

My LFS made sure all was spotless... what a great setup... so happy with it.. the cabinet came just as I wanted... the tank is starphire glass on the 3 sides, one inch thick glass... it feels like bullet proof glass. hehehe..

The refugium/sump is great also... huge... It has 6 returns and four sucks compartments, the refugium is completely separated as I wanted to control flow and be able to avoid phosphate..
I love the red color with the lid for the socks compartment.

I also got a 100G tank for the salt water... my fiance is making an automatic salt water change system that will only be a click of a bottom and the water change will be done in ten minutes... so exciting...

The plumbing will be done today and we are already making salt water to fill this baby up... since we have to cycle the tank and it will be 3 days to fill it up... I am not so concerned with the finish of the plumbing... I will post more photos later with the set up...

The seascape was done in the garage first... we looked at it ten thousand times... move here and there... and finally got to what we have now... when my fiance moved the rocks into the tank we did more changing... so much fun to look at the spaces and caves and see my fishes going through them...
