Ritteri Anemone or Magnificent is suppose to be one of the harder anenomes to keep. My Ritteri got messed up bad when attacked by a cucumber on two seperate occations. At one point he was missing most of his disk and had no tenticles.
After the attack I did a instant water change and added carbon. Then went back to my 10 gallon change every few weeks. I will admit I am not the most precise person when it comes to keeping my salinty levels constant. I have re arranged my rocks several times causing a mess in the tank during his recovery. I don't dose my tank with anything.
Some people advised me to quarantine the anenome so my clown fish doesn't "love it to death." I decided to let the clownfish help the anenome heal. It was kind of depressing watching him swim through an anenome with no tenticles. I thought I will share the anenomes comeback with everyone.
The initial attack, which took place about September 3.
The day after the initial attack on September 4. Some of his tenticles and disk were pulled through a rock.
2 days after the initial attack tenticles start to fall off.
7 days after the attack on September 8th most of his tenticles fell off. New nubs can be seen where some of the old tenticles were.
9 days after the initial attack. Nubs are growing well.
9 days after the attack on September 11th the cucumber comes back to finish the job. The cucumber ripped most of the disk off the cucumbers mouth. the anenome is back to not having tenticles.
15 days after the initial attack on September 17th, the anenomes nubs start to look like tenticles.
20 days after the initial attack on September 22 tenticles are looking real nice.
