The Elusive Blue Toadstool

Just wanted to share this piece because I haven't seen one like it before.

Other threads on the topic of 'blue leathers' -- especially toadstools -- seem to be quite divisive. Some say they're out there; others are adamant that they don't exist, are dyed, or that the examples provided are merely a wishful interpretation of some shade of green.

This piece is none of those things. While it doesn't have the rich deep blue of say an Oregon Tort, there's no way this thing is tan or green. What's more, it has beautiful pink polyps.

In the background is a neon blue Trachyphyllia for comparison, under predominantly white lighting. Although the Trachy is essentially fluorescent, the blues tone is remarkably similar between the two in real life.

So, I'm curious. Has anyone seen one like this before?

many leathers look that blue when shrunk up like that..
Looks fairly normal for a leather to me..

I decided to wait for it to come out a little more. I suspect that this particular variety won't open up much more than can be seen in the attached pic. (Could be wrong though!)

The good news is, it's still a turquoise blue with pink polyps. https://imgur.com/a/BNJgo0E

It is just a normal leather under bluish light. It will be tan under normal white light, even the polyps are tan. I would not pay a premium prive for that leather.

Green, yellow or brown is all I ever seen.
What people see in colour in this hobby varies widely
