The Emerald Crab

For the most part emeralds are reef safe. But you can across one or more that are not. They like to sit on corals and rub off algae from them.. which irritates coral :( and sometimes an emerald might get a taste for a coral! Then there are the crabs that like to attack your fish when they are least expecting it :( I had an emerald that attack my dwarf lionfish from underneath and gave him a gapping hole in his body! He died 3 days later :'(
Also.. emeralds can be a hit or miss with bubble algae. I've had emeralds in the past that would never touch the stuff!

+1 on the hit and miss of emerald crabs for all the reasons above. i pick it off as i see it but if you have lots most rabbitfish like it. my yellow and purple tangs will eat the small bubbles. emerald crabs are what most people try at least they seem to be easy to catch if they aren't doing there job good luck.
