The end of the Beckett as we know it.

I've heard from Beckett (www.888beckett.com) that they have stopped producing the Becket 1408 foaming head that many of us use for our DIY projects. They are currently out of stock, and claim that they will not make any more. They do not have a replacement part. All of us that make skimmers with them will have to come up with something else.

Anyone have any ideas on alternative injectors, that are not covered in patents?

Yeah i use Cunucks can get a copy carried by a store called Canadian Tire. The brand is Wetlands, i'd post a lin but i can't find one anywhere. They are $14.99 but i'm not sure if they are available until spring. If you need some let me know i can check it out for you.

Hi Clinton,

I like the work you did on that skimmer. That is some serious DIY. I am really interested in some of those Wetlands spray heads. Canadian tire has a web site, www.canadiantire.com but the only product listed is a Wetlands pond kit. If you get a chance and can find out some more info about the spray heads I'd love for you to share it. It's nice there may be an alternative.

I was at Home Depot this morning and they had 4 of them left in stock so I bought them. If anyone wants to purchase them I'll sell them for $15 each with minimum order of two (plus shipping).

Thanks

I have search and search the canadian site, but i have no luck on finding the nozzle...anyone here knows where can we get this nozzle. End of Beckett SKimmer is not an option =( We can't let this happen!!!!!

I wonder if Beckett would be willing to sell the molds or allow someone with a CNC mill to machine the injector and sell it?

I guess that I am lucky that when I ordered mine from Market Expo that I decided to buy 2. I checked and they do not show up on the web site anymore, they just had them dropped shipped from Becket anyway.

We will have to find something that will work and will not cost an arm and a leg to buy.

I asked the rep at Beckett if there was a possibility of getting the rights to make them, purchasing the molds, or getting them to run special (large) runs. I was turned down on all fronts. However I was only looking for a few hundred. If someone called and wanted to buy 10k, they might change their mind.

Great find Clinton- I wonder if the licensed the rights to make them to a Canadian firm? (Or possibly, they bought the rights to market a Canadian design, in the US?)

Grim- I don't see how an eductor could make a skimmer- Suggestions?

I could not find it on MarketExpo's web site anymore either. I've managed to get a last order in to Beckett before they ran out, but am wondering what I will do when I run out. ???

Brent, there are a few brands I've seen in Canada that are all identical to the beckett. They are also made in Italy, like the becketts. I bought a case of Becketts from a pond supply place here and they showed me an alternative for when the becketts were gone. Identical other than color. I think the catalog was from Laguna.

Zeph, it's already been done. On another forum, one of Jerel's cohort's had pix with it running--it was complicated. Sorry I don't have the link but maybe Spanky[aka. Bomber] can plug in the details.Bob
