The Fish Store (Raleigh)

I was in Raleigh, NC yesterday and stopped by Panera bread just off of I-540 to get dinner. Next door was a store called "The Fish Place", so I decided to peek in and see -- thinking it was either a freshwater fish store or sushi place. Come to find out, it was a full-blown reef store. I chatted with the owner(s), but can't recall their names. Very friendly and knowledgeable young guy there. The store was very neat and well-layed out. I was impressed. He said they had just opened up and were going to have an official "grand opening" in September.

Costs were fairly reasonable, too. Live rock was low enough that I would consider buying it from the store rather than seek it from other reefers. I also noticed snails were running $1.69 each. The frag tank was very diverse. About $20 for most frags. Ricordea is $16 to $25 each depending on color. I am half-tempted to get a cooler and bring a few things back.

I get the feeling that somebody who really loves the hobby started this place. I hope he makes it in the retail business.
