Oh, I forgot. How did you get your chaeto to roll like that? Inquiring minds want to know.
This thread is great and very refreshing. OP, please keep it going! :bounce1:
Ok, I am hooked. This thread (and you) are terrific. No, you do not need light to cycle a tank and you should not have a skimmer going.

I had to try to figure it out as well. Looks like she has plastic rod through it with a piece of tubing blowing water to spin it? That's the best I could tell. It's pretty neat, creative, and fun, plus something I haven't seen before.

Dear me, now I am blushing.
Good for the circulation!
It’s great that at least some folks out there are enjoying this thread.
So thank you both for your kind words.
You are most welcome
Okay, about the cheato.
It is my first refugium ever, so I am lacking experience.
In this version a small refill pump causes circulation, just like Vorm described. Far to less circulation I am afraid, but I would be glad if someone would comment on that.:fun2:
All experts recommend rolling chaeto but your video is unique in that regard.
Oooh oooh I’m wondering again.
Back to the chaeto.
To my dismay it behaved like a traffic light.
The fresh green colour, that makes you want to add some oil and vinegar to take a little bite, turned red. :furious:
Well, better there than in your DT
Over the weeks it became loaded with red hair alge, Yuck! Probably cyano
Last week my brand new skimmer put an end to all this indecisiveness!
It abruptly stopped emitting bubbles and that was that.
Your Bubble King pump quit?
By the way Steve, why is it better to cycle a tank without the skimmer? Because it is removing stuff which would be used to establish your colonies of bacteria.
In this country Beer works well for this situation. Adding pizza does not hurt either.
But, for future reference. Moving tanks with animals in them is not a good practice. Put the fish in buckets (here we use five gallons) with battery operated air pumps. Much better for the fish (and for the guys moving the tank).
Haha, men are men, doesn't matter matter where they are....:jester:
Yeah, you are probably right.
- The men I hired (okay, I admit, my smile wasn't enough, I payed them:strooperare professionals, tanks, fish and corals are their everyday business.
I sincerely doubt that your smile was not enough
And I am happy to say, that every sweet living thing survived the move! :fun4:
Indeed, it is astounding.:bounce1::bounce3:Wow! What camera is that?!! A Telephoto/Macro/Microscope???? Or is that just a gigantic shrimp?? Amazing!
