Mark,
I'll run hypo on the tank so won't be using macro. Just some base rock and (maybe) bioballs for filtration. However, I would need to use your light conjunction with my current fuge PC as the main lighting for the 2 months this will take.
I'm debating on whether or not I should use a sump though. I may just run my Tunzes in there and do W/C weekly. No need for a skimmer or plumbing. I won't feed the fish very much so there shouldn't be a problem with waste.
I will need enough rock surface area in there to house the bacteria and test to make sure there are no spikes. Thats my biggest concern with a new system, of course. I can buy some biosphere to speed it up, but that stuff can get pricey and I have about 20lbs of LR in my fuge that I'll drop in there too.
I'm also going to have to run this by the rommies. I'm sure they'll be cool with it, but probably not until after the super bowl (which I totally agree )
Thanks for all the help guys! Lets see if I can't get this baby set up
if it isn't drilled i can put together a PVC overflow for you or lend you my 600gph box-overflow(i'm planning to take it off anyway in favor of a PVC oveflow) i've also got a 26show in the backyard you could use.
I think the best situation for me will be to build the quarantine w/out a sump. Just too much extra stuff I need to go that route.
What I think I need the most is as much base rock as I can find, and a couple of heaters. Then I should be good to go.
After speaking with Marko9, he will most likely be setting up his new tank while I'm running still running the QT, so its probably better that I find somewhere else to get the extra rock I'll need.
