This mod is great ...i'm going to order the stuff to do it soon. I just wish i could DIY a better bracket to attach that MJ to the tank

You can probably make a bracket for it out of a strip of acrylic easily. Just heat it with a heat gun and bend it to shape.

Alternatively (if you're like me and don't have a heat gun), you can pop it in a 325F oven so that it is hanging over a glass dish turned upside down. When heat and gravity kick in it, you'll have your bend.

Well Guys ..I ordered the props, glue, and carbon fiber rod from the hobby sore :) .....

It should come in by next week ...hehheehhe

how are u guys drilling out the 1.25 dumas props to fit onto the 3/16 od ridgid tubing? i am having a hella of a time doing this seems that there just insn't enough meat ther to do that have ruined 3 props so far and even with the 3/16 bit it still not quite big enough for the tyubing to go there ?. did i miss something along the way? most likely since i have attempted to read all the pages. i got the rest of it just this damn prop deal is ****ing me off. any help would be great thanks

I had a similar problem. I ordered 4 props (only needing 2) and killed 3 of them before getting 1 decent one. I ordered a new batch and found a method: I pretty much just OVER drill with each bit (move/swivel it around a little while inside the prop), then it makes it easier to move up to the next larger bit size - until you finally get to the 3/16. Then, if you have trouble fitting the 3/16 on the rigid tube, just swivel that around a little too to widen the space...

Seemed to work for me.

If you get a 3/16" cutting bit for a Dremel doing this will be a piece of cake. Otherwise just careful does it.

Hey D, good to see things are still going strong... Question for ya... After about what a month or two.. my 900 mod is starting to make noise again. Last time it was the center brace not being exactly centered... but its been soooo long now, and its starting to make noise again. I've taken it out and cleaned it twice. I can't see any signs of ware... any thoughts?

I use duct tap and tape the prop down to a piece of wood. Then with both hands free I can drill the secured prop. Make sure you really take your time and step up the bits. Did 4 and no broken ones.

Refresh my memory. What does your housing/shroud look like again?

I'm usually pretty good at DIY, but I've been working on this for two weeks and can't get it to work consistently. It's tough to get things aligned without decent tools.

Anyone willing to build one for me?

Anyone have a working email for Lutz?

Thanks

FYI - Instead of rigid airline & soft airline tubing you can purchase carbon fiber tubes from the hobby shops as well. The nice thing is that the 0.157" CF tube has an inner diameter of .098" which is the size of the CF rod.

It's easier to drill the props to fit the 0.157" CF tube than the rigid airline tubing. It has a smaller OD than the airline tubing.

Yes, 1.5 I believe is correct. sch40. (regular white pvc that was painted)

Is that a 1.5" SCH80 pipe you used?

for drilling the prop out, what i did is take the airline adapter that comes with the maxijet and drill the prop out to fit it. since it is taper it fits the prop and airline tubeing.

That would be why there is noise. The SCH40 pipe has an ID that is larger than the MJ's impeller port hole and this allows too much room for it to move and be slightly off centered. If you try adding a 1.5" PVC testcap to it, I think it will be much better as the test cap is a near perfect fit of the MJ.

Not sure I follow you D... The 1.5 sch40 pipe is grooved at the one end. this groove goes under the two clips on either side of the MJ body... is this where you feel it is moving around? If so I should be able to find the "sweet spot" again by rotating it... correct? and finally your suggesting the test cap because its a better fit and less chance of it moving out of position?
