Octura Models - the manufacturer of Octua propellers will ship overseas. Only problem is you have to mail or call them directly as they do not have a website nor email address.

Octura Models Inc
(847) 674-7351
7351 Hamlin Ave
Skokie, IL 60076
USA

You could also try eBay?

Or ask the members in this group where they get theirs from?

Thanks dh, i've already contacted some of their suppliers, consequently the only one importing this props have no stock. I've also looked into RC plane props, the thing is the smallest prop is 4" long. I was thinking of cutting the prop to get the length i need. Do you think an RC plane prop is ok?

well i modded my seio 820 today, will spin 3 1.75 dumas props but has to be started out of the water. will spin them in reverse underwater, have no stopper on it right now. however, it spins 2 props great. gonna be cleaning it up and putting it in the tank soon. will gets some pics later on tonight, have to go play with it some more. man 3 props moves a lot of water.

Tim

heck nooooo. i am gonna add a few things to the outlet to reduce the the swirling effect, the seios have it on theirs ( i cut them out once and found out what they did), after these are in this thing will really rock. oh yeah, i got 3 props to start underwater just fine now. this thing easily have 1.5-2x the flow of my seio 2600 that i had. ok well off to glue some stuff and take pics, then time to mount it in the tank.

Tim

oh and i have another problem too. i fixed the props to the magnet, so how can i come up with a stopper that will work, since if the prop spins backwards it wont drive itself out to hit a stop since it is connected to the magnet.

ok well here are a few pics, will get some before and after polyp swaying pics later on, but this should keep ya tuned in. here is a parts list too: .125 CF rod, .047x .470 CF flat bar, 3/16 styrene tube, 3 1.75 dumas props, 3x2 DWV reducer, 2 x 1 1/2 slip reducer, seio 820, 4x4x3/16 acrylic sheet, gel superglue, and the a fourth dumas prop hacked up for my coupling.

should work out good.

i need to work on the flat pieces that go insinde the outlet. they need to be a bit bigger. without them the flow sucks. i tried it in the display tonight, without the flat pieces in and a didnt like it one bit. so back to the drawing board.
the outlet basically needs to look like the outlet of a seio.just cut the flat things off of a seio and run it, thats what it is like

Tim

no not the stoppers. in my last pic you can see them glued inside the outlet.they help to straighten out the flow

ok well now i have another thought. does two props of the same size move more water than one prop. i mean i really cant tell too much of a difference now when trying out 2 props vs. 3 props and assuming that 1 will feel the same too. so i think i am gonna go get a bigger prop and try this thing over again. looking for a big octura, think that the brand name.

Tim

It was mentioned once already by someone and also through my own observation, that 1 propeller will not provide you the 100% efficiency from the pitch due to drag, slippage, and resistance - you're getting maybe 80-85% instead. Now 2 propellers will provide better flow because now you have the one propeller feeding off the other and will increase this number to maybe 95%. Consequently adding a thrid propeller won't increase the flow much more than what the intended pitch of the propeller can provide.

This is all just based on my own observation and speculation of course.

well looks like it is time to get a bigger prop. also whats the best way to attach the clear tubing to the magnet so that when it spins in reverse it can "climb" into the stopper.

Did you guys ever think about putting packages together to sell to other users that don't have the tool or know how to make the mods. I know I would buy a package or two for my maxi jets. Or may be you could just do it for me! Let me know.

Yeah, I would definitely be interested in one or two of these mods.
They seem like a great mod but I just don't have the proper tools and skills to do it right.

RC has a very strict policy about "commercial" postings on this forum and I don't think we would want to jeopardize having the thread closed due to that.

This is also why Lutz was booted from RC because he was basically using the previous thread to make and sell these things.

I'm sure one or more people on this thread would be willing to help if you can't DIY one yourself or don't have the tools to do so. I would suggest contacting the person(s) via PM or direct email instead of posting on this thread though. Plus I would rather the thread didn't turn into a buy/sell one which is what basically happened to the first 2 threads on this mod.
