The Importance of using RODI water. New Aquarists should read...

This hobby has been fun for me, I am getting out and going back to freshwater in an attempt to simplify my life. The best thing I ever did in this hobby was to switch away from using tap water and start using RODI water. Improvements in parameters and algae are almost immediate. That being said in my time in this hobby I have accumulated 2 RODI units Both are BRS 4 stage value plus systems with dual tds meters. (the switch broke off one of them, still functions). As a parting gift to this community I wish to give these RODI units away to 2 new members. I will ask that you pay shipping but not a penny more than what the shipping label costs to wherever you are (US only).

I have some requirements...

1. You must be a new member (less than 90 days)
2. You must not already have an RODI unit
3. If you ever leave the hobby, pay it forward to a new member with a donation of some kind.

Thats it, First 2 PM's I get from people who qualify will get a free RODI unit.

MODS- This is not a sale ad and these items are listed nowhere for sale, please allow this, so I can give back a little of what I have gained from this community.

Thats a great gesture, way to make a positive influence on others just entering the hobby. Kudos to mcozad

Nice idea! Thanks for helping out other forum members.

Have fun with the cichlids. Get some of those little shell dwelling ones. Those are so neat.

Awesome man! Nice to see pay it forward going on in this hobby as well!

Leaving saltwater for the foreseeable switching over to African Cichlids for a bit.

I loved my African Cichlid tank. My wife and I started a 75 gal tank with the usual newby guppies and mollies that progressed to some gouramis, angels, etc. Got farther in and wanted to change it over to cichlids. Bought a 56 gal to move some of the existing fish into and turned the 75 in a cichlid tank. Had that for about 18 months with some pretty neat ones then we got the itch to go salt. Sold the 75 and we are 8 months into our 125 reef. It's been a learning experience but has been tons of fun. The wife just mentioned a week ago about getting the 56 back running and getting another cichlid tank going. :lmao:

The male nyereri is one of my favorite cichlids. Good luck to you!

Way to pay it forward!

Good luck with the Cichlids. I had a 75g Cichlid tank as well. They've got a ton of personality. I thought I had lost one forever once. About 9 months after I had written my lost cichlid off as dead/consumed by the others, I gave my remaining cichlids back to LFS as I was breaking down my tank. When I nearly had my tank completely drained (I hadn't been running a filter for a week or more) and started pulling out decorations, my "lost" blue cichlid came flying out of a small hole in one of the faux-roman columns (don't judge my aquarium decor taste- I was 17). LFS ended up with one more cichlid. Enjoy!
