The jury is still out

I helped my sister place an order for mushrooms from LiveAquaria.com last week. She ended up buying over $200.00 worth!

LiveAquaria did their part and packaged the mushrooms exceptionally well and shipped the product out on Thursday next day air via Fedex.

Fedex screwed up royally! Supposedly they got hung up at the Indianapolis sorting facility and they never made the plane to Wisconsin. Day one lost.

Being that they were being shipped to an office, we instructed Fedex to redirect to my house for Saturday delivery. Saturday came and went to no delivery. This time, they claim the package got hung up at the Milwaukee airport and didn't make it to the local office in time for delivery. Day two lost.

Sunday - Well its Sunday, obviously no delivery. Day three lost.

The package finally showed up at the office today (Monday). Not only was it late, it must have been dropped somewhere along the line as the cooler was broken, there was water everywhere, and one of the bags was done dry.

All of this is 100% Fedex's fault.

BUT - This morning when I called to update LiveAquaria, they still want me to go through the acclimiation process and see if the mushrooms have made it. I'm very skeptical about this as I can see in the bags that several of the mushrooms have already seperated from the rock and are just floating around. I'm even hesitant to put this stuff in my tank!

To LiveAquaria's credit they did ask me to call back after the acclimatation. However, regardless of how this turns out there is no way the product will turn out as abundant and healthy as when it was originally shipped. My opinion is that LiveAquaria should have offered a full refund right away and filed a claim with Fedex for the vaule of the order.

Ryan009,

Thank you for your post. We apologize for any inconvenience you have gone through due to the delay in shipping. Though it is not common that delays occur, it is our wish that an acclimation procedure be performed to see if there are any specimens that may still be alive. Being that we ask this of anyone who receives an order that was delayed, we normally will wait until the acclimation is performed before proceeding to the credits. If you would please PM us your order information, we will be happy to take care of your concerns promptly.

Sincerely,

I'd at least give it a try, mushrooms are so hardy. I had a ton come in on my live rock that survived shipping and months in a tank with no light. Besides, Drs. will always give credit if it is due, such as in the case as this so throw them in the tank and maybe you'll be lucky.

Well I gave it a try and it looks like I one single mushroom might make it. I did my best but by the time they got to me, most of them had already disintegrated into a stringy, slimey mess.

But I do want to give credit where credit is due. LiveAquaria customer service was fantastic and issued a full refund along with their regrets without a problem.

The best recommendation I can give is that LiveAquaria has earned my business and I will definetly order from them again in the future.
