I got three peppermint shrimps when I saw that my live rock brought a few aptasia and they took care of it. Quickly and than two of them became peaceful eating left over foods anything that drops to the sand. But this one peppermint shrimp...... is attacking everything. I got a carpet anemone and it freaking plucks out little tentacles from it and eats it and once the clown fish scares off the shrimp it than moves over to my GSP and button polyps and starts picking at them too. And he picks on any fish that swims by and at my snails too. He also lunges forward towards by goby..... witch than retreats into his burrow........ *** is going on . I created a bottle trap and I got the two good shrimps to go inside the evil one stayed 3 inches from my carpet anemone staring at it........... lol shrimp is a demon spawn or is this sometimes normal peppermint shrimp behavior? And what can I do to catch him...... other than bottle plus food because it doesn't really interest him.:debi:

Tank specs are 55 gallon tank with 30 gallon refugium.
Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate under 10PPM salinity 1.025 tank is 7 months old. The two corals I got where put in a month ago and the anemone was put in 2 days ago.

Try feeding directly with one hand and a net in the other . Get him to focus on the food and try to go for it. Mine never stop paying attention to the food until they touch the inside of the net. Might work for you.

I got a few peppermint shrimp once and will never again. They would kill my snails and when I saw them on top of my fighting conch pulling his eyes out I broke down half my tank to kill the things. I just pulled out half my rock and smashed them against the side of my tank I was so mad.

Yeah I'm mad too and it's just one of the three. The other two are super peaceful but this one damn shrimp is just evil he attacks everything and anything and eats anything he can get into his hands he keep plucking my anemone and it's getting me furious I am going to try the food in hand plus net thing when I get home I want that shrimp out!!

I had a peppermint that was trying to rip the insides out of my rock flower nem. If they eat aiptasia then it makes sense they enjoy the taste of anemones. Anyways after he ate the aiptasia he was easily netted using the same method Electus mentions. Down to the sump

I had the best luck netting them during the day. Usually right after I fed the tank flakes or something. I didn't get them the first try, but with a little perseverance they got got.
You can also try baiting the net with a small piece of shrimp too. These things are not very smart, so it's only a matter of time before they walk right in. GL.

My Skunk cleaner and arrow crab stick their arms inside my acans mouths and my elegance corals to steal or search for any excess food. Its just what they do. I have never seen them actually ripping pieces of the coral off though...

Hold a piece of raw shrimp in your hand: you'll probably be able to nab the fellow as he attempts to eat it.
