I emptied some water into a few 5 gallon containers, until the top of the rock was exposed. Then we placed the frags and various corals into their own gladware containers and bags. After that we started draining water into 4 gallon containers and placing rock in the bottom, it took 4 of these to hold all the rock. This left about 1/3 of the water in the tank with the sand. We filled a 5g bucket and caught all the fish and put them in the bucket. We tried to pick up the tank with the sand in it but it weighed too much so we had to scoop 3/4 of the sand into another bucket. After that we carried everything to the trucks waiting outside.
Once in the new apartment we place the tank and stand, put the sand back in, added some new sand, then added 10 gallons of water. I then put rock in adding the water from the container afterwards. This kept the water above the rock. After all the rock was in place we added the rest of the water. I then started the filter and skimmer. The fish went in next and all the corals went in last, lining the front glass.
I did add 2 gallons of new water and will do a 10% change tonight.
BTW, my old apartment was on the 3rd floor.
