The New 126 Gal

I have a 10 year old LeeMar, and a 3 month old LeeMar. Both have a few bubbles, and have had zero problems. I do worry about the bubbles shown in your third picture, they almost connect in places and form a direct line for water to get out. The seal is only as good as it's weakest point. So I agree, you ought to have them look at it before you set it up. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and you spent a lot of money, so don't be shy and demand (politely and professionally) that they give you a tank that meets YOUR expectations.

Otherwise, that is one sexy tank, and will be stunning when you get it sorted out and set up. Congrats!

PS: I like the Miami Vice blue background, I have that on one of mine.

Im not too worried about getting it sorted out Lee-Mar makes an awesome product and im sure they will correct any issues if needed.

Yeah, they will. On my new tank, I had specified the eurobracing to be 1/4 inch below the top edge of the sides, so that splashed/dripped water would stay on the braces and not run down the front/sides of the tank. They made the braces flush, and they rebuilt it, no questions asked, before I even took delivery from my LFS.

Dope tank. Love the rimless :inlove:

All you need now is a couple of Vortechs, minimal LR & an elos sticker....haha

Good News and Bad News!!!

Ok the Bad News First

The tank came back from Lee-Mar and to say the least they must have some quality control issues. We have always had a Lee-Mar aquarium and they have always done great work but maybe this high end quality stuff is just something they are not capable of producing. Lee-Mar also sent the tank back with minor bubbles/voids in the silicone and to top it off put the packing material on the tank and shipped it with the paint still wet!!! and I mean like wet not tacky. So as you can imaging the paint on the back of the tank was all smeared. They didn't really solve the original issue and the tank came back even worse then before. I was super disappointed. We have been waiting for this tank for over month to find a well below standard product.

So bottom line We are done with Lee-Mar the tank was sent back after ordering this tank in the beginning of December im over waiting another 2 weeks at least for them to deliver.

The good news

We are going with a ELOS 120 XL After looking at other threads and speaking with ELOS USA directly I feel like we have made the right decision. If you were to compare this tank to cars the Lee-mar even brace less would be a Ford Focus and the Elos would be a BMW 745i Alpina.
In my opinion the tank is a bit over kill. Here's what I mean about overkill, we are talking about a tank that is built out of 100% crystal glass. Its a French version of star fire. Yes even the bottom pains are starfire. Why you ask I guess the Italians are very picky and precise about their manufacturing process. All sides of each pane are mitered and polished and the bottom is made out of 9 panes of glass. as an example you can see the bottom bracing on this Elos System 70. This does not include the 9 panes that make up the bottom

Also a shot of the System 70 Of Box ours will be a bit larger but you get the idea of how streamlined even the O/F box is

I wish ELOS made something in more of the mid range like a 5 series BMW and not the 7 series but I guess when your dealing with a company of this caliber you will never get anything but the best.
Another plus is I can deal directly with the manufacturer!!! I was going to originally get the system 120 XL from ELOS but the cost scared me a bit and I figured I could get good quality elsewhere, I guess I was wrong! Like everything in this hobby if you don’t know this already YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I don’t want to skimp on something that is going to hold 120 gallons of seawater in the house.

Bottom Line I feel much more confident in dealing with ELOS. I will post pics and observations as the tank comes in. I also need to post updated sump and stand Pics

More to come soon!!!

I will contact Jesse from ELOS USA to see if he has more pics of the system 120 XL

Be careful, they are addictive. :) I moved up to a 160XL. As much as I love the 160XL, I really thought the 120XL (~130G) was the perfect size.

David what da hell is the maximod pump inside the Elos tank???

That's like you drive a Ferrari but carry a fake LV bag hahaha

Not to rub it in but I told you so!!!!! When you came to my store in Fresno and saw the Elos tank didn't I tell you all this, I guess the other Jesse is a better salesman than I.

Once you get it in you will appreciate what they (Elos) have created. Lee Mar makes some really good tanks but no where near this caliber. Were they even going to warranty the tank? if so how long? I talked to them about 8 months ago and they would not even make the tank without bracing I guess they changed their minds.

Update!

Tank is on a truck on its way! it should arrive tomorrow and were super stoked!!!

I wanted to post some quick pics of the sump and the stand . Im tired so we will keep it brief due to a 8 hour seminar i attended in L.A. today focusing on economic real-estate trends for 2008

The Monster Sump Made by John Hoang. If you are looking for anything acrylic i would highly recommend him the sump is exactly what we were looking for and more! He can be reached by email atadv.acrylics@yahoo.com

here is the origonal sketch we sent to john.

here is what we got. Really like the bag holder and the top-off revisor that is built into the back it can be seen behind the bag holder. The top-off revisor will also have a cover that will keep dust and stuff out of the top off water.
